Rome and level III

Post by fractious_celt »

Hi

Complete MODDING newbie here... I've played the Persia scenario to death and want to give an unshackled Rome a try, i.e. allow it to get to level III, can you give me an idea where to find those files?

Thanks.

Also a newbie to the game.

I feel that Rome is massively overpowered to the point of being almost unstoppable.

IRL It started as a low miltary experience with standard Greek like Hoplites with long spear but evolved to Legions with pilum over time after surviving various wars..... with Italics, then Celts, then Phyrus that saw the Legions that face Carthage emerge to face Hannibal.....

Rome's big thing early on was innovation and a utterly massive manpower, weapons, armour and equipment pool compared to over civilised neighbours. So if their army was defeated then they would just raise a new 40-80K army while others, including the Greeks and Successors, could not.

Rome adapted while others left military innovation changes till too late to matter..... ie... imitation legionaries becoming available but in too small a number to matter against the fulling trained Romans.

Not sure how best to model this in this game though?????

Also..... skirmishers are not really supporting a melee troops..... A second line of HI or MI units are.... or maybe a back line of massed archers.... But certainly not LI skirmishers with javelins....
