False timestamps on tournament game
I've just received an acceptance to a challenge that is time stamped earlier than the actual time of the challenge I sent out. I received the acceptance on the 15th, but it's date stamped 11th, I've never seen this before, just concerned that there may be a way of frigging with time stamps to make it look like turns etc are being returned earlier than actual? This may make a difference if the game ends uncompleted. Or is this just some kind of glitch?

Re: False timestamps on tournament game
Well I very much doubt that there is any way of deliberately "frigging with time stamps". So presumably it is a glitch.
I will pass this on to the person in charge of the database.
Who is your opponent in this game? (So we can identify the game(s) on the database)
Is the game Ancient or Medieval?

Re: False timestamps on tournament game
Are you referring to the timestamp shown in the MP lobby, or the time stamp on the notification emails?
Is this a tournament game? If so, presumably not an automated tournament game, because the current round started on 4th Jan

I can see one game on the database vs rpadilla, that was created on 11th January, but not started till 15th January. Are we referring to that one?

Tournament game, gap of a few days between my challenge and game coming back to me in MP page, but had a time stamp from a few days earlier, there's no one I missed it, so the timestamp looks wrong.rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 7:50 am Are you referring to the timestamp shown in the MP lobby, or the time stamp on the notification emails?

Sorry, I don't understand. What do you mean by "my challenge"? Do you mean sending your turn? If not, then what?paulmcneil wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 8:26 amTournament game, gap of a few days between my challenge and game coming back to me in MP page, but had a time stamp from a few days earlier, there's no one I missed it, so the timestamp looks wrong.rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 7:50 am Are you referring to the timestamp shown in the MP lobby, or the time stamp on the notification emails?

What type of tournament game? are you referring to the current automated Ancient tournament or some other tournament?
Who is your opponent? (PM me if you don't want to post it in the forum, although there is really no likelihood of any malfeasance). We really need this information in order to investigate further, so we can identify the instance on the database.

Re: False timestamps on tournament game
Hi Paul,
I got your PM now.
This is not an automated tournament game, so the automated time out rules won't be applied anyway.
And I am guessing that your opponent didn't accept the challenge until 15th, because if he had done so earlier, it would have gone into your in-tray immediately the challenge was accepted. So in fact the game was in neither player's in-trays until 15th January.
If it had been an automated tournament, your side of the mirror would have gone straight into your in-tray on 11th January.
So I don't think there is really any issue at all that could affect this game or automated tournaments.
Nevertheless, I have asked the PBEM overlord to investigate.

He confirms that there should not be any problem.rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 2:15 pm Nevertheless, I have asked the PBEM overlord to investigate.
