Northern Doubles - Runners and Riders

Post by dave_r »

12 Teams in total - 900 points Doubles. Armys are graded into classes as follows:

0 - 225 points of restricted troops is a Class Three
225-449 points of restricted troops is a Class Two
450+ points is a Class One

If you break a higher class army you get bonus points - three if one higher, six if two higher.

Code: Select all

Team Army Class
Mick Hood and Neil Duffell 100YW English 3
Bob Amey and Chris Thorne WoTR Yorkist 1
Neil Howard and Nick Hewitt Ancient British 2
Tony Robinson and Paul Crozier Later Hungarian 1
Steve Clarke and Martin Buxton 100YW English 3
James Hamilton and Ian Stewart Neo Assyrian 2
Dave Ruddock and Dave Eltringham Later Hungarian 1
Dave Redhead and Leslie Dailami Dynasties 1
Andy Wallace and Martin Routh Medieval Castilian 1
Alistair Moore and Roger Greenwood	Later Low Countries 3
Alan Cole and Paul Carter New Kingdom Egyptian 2
Dave Handley and Jon Thatcher Classical Indian 2
Martin and Phillip Wilkinson Achaian 2
Coin Betts Thessalian 2
Six of the Army books represented, so another good spread, even if there are two armies chosen twice.

A couple of late entries....

If you play either Martin or Colin in the first round I would endlessly wind them up about waiting to see the runners and riders before deciding to attend and what with...

I spoke to the organiser (a certain Colin Betts) about having a penalty applied, but somewhat surprisingly he said no ....

It will be great to see Martin there. This will be the first comp he has made since his last major operation.

What armies are they taking............I take it they are both MAWS?

Certainly Colin is kind of MAWS. Philip and Martin are definitely Brigantes though...

Pass on my regards please, it's always good to hear of people returning to "normal" after major illness.

You can put as many smileys on as you want Colin. Your army list submitted at 22:26 on Friday night is still illegal

No surprise there then.

I think Colin is being unduly villified here...

Colin was initially down to play in the DBM comp (in order to actually get enough numbers for it to happen). By the look of it there was a late entry to DBM and to FoG so Colin switched to keep numbers even.

OK, not getting your list legal first time is a bit silly but .....

I will bring my Dominate Romans just in case someone needs a loan. I am not sure if Ian would be willing to split but if I have an extra army it can't hurt.

We could split if it helps out with the numbers.

If you are happy to play on your own it may even numbers. Up to you if you bring an army you fancy or as suggested I can pack my Dominates (with the 9 BGs of armoured medium foot). With the Nothern league it is often all up in the air till the last minute anyway.

Dave Redhead has already kindly agreed to split - I am bringing a spare army.

Just incase anyone is interested it was dicovered that one of the army lists in use was illegal! After some hasty corrections all was resolved. Any guesses who was the culprit?

I would say the most likely culprit would be a playing list checker as, obviously, if you are a list checker your list does not need checking.
