Where are the modding tools?

Post by Ezequiel1996 »

It's almost three years since we have been promised this modding tools, and yet we didn't have recived any news from it. Don't get me wrong, i love the game and i love doing content for it, also i really appreciate all the work the developers did to bring us this game. But guys you're slowly letting this game die; i haven't seen any activity from other modders and the Scenario Design Forum is slowly becoming a empty place.

I know that this things take time but please do not let this game die, because it has a lot of potential. Anyways i just wanted to express how i feel, i sadly feel that us modders doesn't recive support from neither the company or the developers.

If you feel the same way than me please share it here :).

Anyways developers please don't take this as an attack or something like that. take care!.

The AOs have been good (watching a SCW let's play convinced me to buy the game), but the modders have also done some awesome work. At this point I've played more hours on modded campaigns than the base game.
If the few active modders left depart in frustration, I'll probably lose interest in the game too

There are good modders around like Grondel with PC1 Grand Campaign, Storm over Europe, The Big Red One or The Taman Warriors.

A big thing is the missing of units. Somebody made this mod - I forgot the name - unit mod? - with a lot of new units but he could not replace the models.

But: there is a guy on YouTube who succeeded in creating new models and bigger maps - I cannot find him here on the forum or on Steam.

This is very sad.

But hey. I think they will give it free in some years whrn they sold their Pacific and other DLCs.

So we wait...

nope he didn't, he just replaced existing models with different ones. adding new models to the game and enhancing the total number of models is the big issue atm.

it is possible to do it though, in the same way as it is possible to have a 10 winning streak in a lottery. ;)

the big maps are no problem to make, but a map with 150*150 hex has a loading time of more than 60 minutes on my machine, which is not the best out there but certainly not the weakest one either. ;)
thats why i stick to maps that are no bigger than 80*80 roughly. i guess in 10+ years when we all have computers that would cost 10k today we will enjoy the big maps. ;) hard cap/engine cap for map size seems to be around 20k hexes roughly.
i challenge u to get the exact number. ;)

I have to agree. This game has a brilliant potential to become the best WW2 wargame and, even more importantly, best tool for creating WW2 and other era wargames, except... Except that you still can't mod it properly. I really hope that the devs would find time for that, we do need not only an ability to add new models, for now it's impossible to edit even much simpler things like medals (you can add an image or change an existing one, but you can't create new medals for nations who don't have them, for example). With modding community you would get much, way much more money, just look at HoI4.

Then why for heavens sake did the developers choose to use such a demanding engine?

My rig is not very old - 5 years - but it can handle games like Red Dead Redemption or Total Wars Warhammer without problems.

I got an:
Intel® Core™ i7-7700K 4x 4.20GHz
DDR4 Kingston 2400MHz (16GB)
8192 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX™ 1070

So why does this game get slower and slower the longer I play?
