With the current 30 years war campaign in its last move I'm looking for a new campaign to start in January.
I will stick to the current format of players being on 2 sides. There will be 6 rounds against 6 different opponents, with each round being a different year of a particular war or group of wars or geographic area. Only armies that were used in that year in that theatre of war will be available.
The current format of 6 players aside has worked well, especially as all 12 players who started the campaign played all 6 battles. I will consider expanding to either 7 or 8 players aside if there are 2 or 4 new players who are willing to commit to playing all 6 games. There is no intention to increase the number of rounds.
I am looking for suggestions of interesting periods to play.
ECW stands out, but I think the battles favour the Parliament, although that isn't neccessarily a huge problem.
I would quite like to do Italian wars, or at least the age of Machiavelli, but some players dislike moving "huge blocks of concrete" around.

Andre, the 30YW campaign has been excellent and you found a very effective formula for it as well as organising it most efficiently and in a friendly way. Thanks for this and also for launching a new series in 2023.
As for the period, I think ECW is a good idea. One innovation might be to award the losing side bonus points in the following round.
I would also be happy with the Italian Wars, just to try something a bit different. One other suggestion would be the Spanish invasion of the Low Countries where I am sure you could find a formula that gives a context for each round, based on the cities and regions under contest.

Hear Hear !!! Totally agree with Alan's praise of your innovated & inventive efforts Andre.
I vote for the Italian Wars.
Re: New Year, new campaign
I echo the thanks for your sterling efforts in divising and organising these campaigns Andre.
I would plump for ECW, but happy to follow the will of the majority whatever it may be.

Re: New Year, new campaign
André,
Thanks for organising the TYW event, I will be very happy to Jon in again next yea whatever is decided upon.
I personally would prefer something other than ECW, but only because I am most familiar with that and would like to try something else. There is plenty to choose from; French Religious wars, the various Ottoman conflicts of the 15th and 16th centuries, Swedish wars in 16th century, Russian Polish conflicts, plus those already mentioned. Whatever is decided count me in.
Merry Christmas to all here allies and foes. May we enjoy many more convivial engagements in 2023.

I think something Eastern, whether it be Poles, Russians, and/or Ottomans could be interesting, and we haven't used it yet as a theme. That said, count me in no matter what!

I think that would be a lot of fun indeed and a nice change of pace, as would Italian WarsSnuggleBunnies wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 3:21 pm I think something Eastern, whether it be Poles, Russians, and/or Ottomans could be interesting, and we haven't used it yet as a theme. Re: New Year, new campaign
Hi Andre. I've been away from Pike & Shot for about a year, and I'm eager to join a new campaign if that is possible. As a suggestion for a different campaign, might I suggest the Cologne War of 1583-1588. It's a little known war but has been described as a precursor to the Thirty Years War. It went on during the Dutch revolt against Spain(actually right next door to the Spanish Netherlands) and during the time of the French Wars of Religion. The Dutch, English, Spanish and French all sent contingents to fight in this conflict, so maybe we can do this campaign taking in some aspects of the Dutch Revolt and the Wars of Religion. Anyways, just a thought about something different...whatever you come up with I would be interested to join.
Cheers
Alex
