Hello there!
This really seems like a perfect hex-game for me. Way more mature and detailed than Panzer Corps 2 and imo even has better graphics, e.g. when it comes to wreckages on the battlefield.
However, before I buy into this game I have 3 questions regarding things that really interfere with my immersion of the game:
1. I've just played the trial mission of the Sandstorm campaign and I was appalled when the L6/40 tank shot with a normal caliber tankgun of that era (45mm). It should have a 20mm Breda 35 gun. Strangely enough, that same gun is already in the game in the same mission as an AA gun.
In the very same scenarios, the Panzerwagen II has a correct 20mm Geschütz though which makes the whole affair even stranger. The actual weapons AND the sounds and animations are already in the game.
The tank's picture also clearly shows a 20mm gun.
And yet, the L6/40 has the wrong gun (and hence the wrong sound and animation).
2. Which brings me to the next question which might be interrelated with question 1.
Am I correct to understand that there is no unit inspector in-game that shows you which armaments a unit has? Despite my smart assing above, I don't know much about the weaponry of WWII and I would love to have the possibility to look that up while I am in the game.
3. I've read some reviews about the DLCs and some say that the scenarios are very inaccurate when it comes to the actual OOB (what an irony!).
E.g. Japan fights you with miraculous weaponry that is on par with German 1945 gear, and Operation Bagration only gives you a few units.
Would you say that this critique is somewhat justified?

There is a custom-made Unit Navigator that shows the stats of all units in the game.
http://mfendek.byethost16.com/?i=2
These stats simulate the various weapon characteristics.
But there is nowhere in the game installation where you can see the exact weaponry, caliber etc.
There are several players on these forums that have strong views on units stats and the devs make corrections when errors are pointed out.
The official campaign scenarios are broad in scope and playability plays a løarger role than correct history IMO.
But they are not fantasy products and usually depicts the various quite well.
OOB does not use fixed unit sizes. The official scenario units are often regimental/division. Personally I have created campaigns with battalion/companies. Gun ranges and movement will of course suffer a bit, but scenarios at the extremes plays surprisingly well.

Hello Erik! Thank you very much for your reply, and thank you for pointing me towards the Unit Navigator!
It is a shame that caliber, armaments etc. are not shown. However, after playing for a couple more hours today, I might see why it hadn't been feasible to include those real life statistics. It would have added to the flavour but oh well, I am gonna alt-tab while playing the game and look up what I don't know.
Still can't forgive though that the L6 light tank has the wrong animations and sound effects. Someone on Steam pointed out to me that the L6 has the same attack stats as the Pz II with its animated 20mm gun, so I guess it's totally fine from a gameplay perspective.
Anyways, the game is too good to miss out on it because of such a minor flaw. It blows my mind that this game has such a wide array of WW2 battles, some of which I never even heard of.
Also, thank you for giving me a succinct but expert view on the OOB of OOB. And thanks for giving me a hint that there are bigger custom campaigns out there. (I have already checked out your mod page.)
Unfortunately, however, I now have a problem (or rather: the problem gets bigger) with the zoom speed in the game. I like the graphics in the game but I also have to zoom out to see the bigger picture. Any idea how I can modify the "Mouse Zoom Speed" above the official maximum?

Re: Questions about: incorrect armament ++ historical unit inspector ++ game-y OOBs
I have found a solution!
There is a program, easy and very lightweight, called "Smoothscroll". Don't get confused when you google it, it is probably the first find but says it is only for Mac. It is not.
While enabled, the program overwrites the mouse wheel settings of windows. E.g. you can adjust speed but also the amound of acceleration for your mouse wheel.
Zooming in and out in OOB is smooth like butter now. In fact, the program is so good I might use it for other applications to.
I should add that the program is completely free of charge.
