Order of battle: Invitational Tournament

Post by Edmon »

Hello everyone!

The first round of the Order of Battle: Invitational has concluded and it's another strong start for AdmiralYamamoto!

Having already won the Bootcamp Tournament, the question has become: Can anyone knock AdmiralYamamoto off the top?

The current top five are:
1. AdmiralYamamoto
2. Pekkavilamoura
3. Nomadicjam
4. rm116
5. spionkop

Whatever happens, it's going to be an exciting tournament.

Sadly my round 2 opponent must be having trouble getting turns in since it took 4 days before he started and now seems to have stopped again. He also timed out in round 1 games so guessing he's got limited access.

After a kicking by AdmiralYamato in round 1 and likely to get times out games it does leave me wondering.

I'd like to suggest chess clock timer equivalent for online tournaments particularly for when player have started but then not bothered completing later turns.

With 14 days for rounds we should each have 7 days in total time to make our moves. If you delay and run out of time you lose. End of.

I realise it's only a game but that's the point, it's a game, so it does not matter if the other player cannot fulfill their turns. If they lose through no fault of their own then it's unfortunate but it's not the end of the world. And if it is literally the end of the world then an online game is of little consequence.

Given they have a pbem server that stores score etc... there is no reason not to store total time between submitting turns.

Round 1, 6 timed out games out of 16, so more than a third of games.

Round 2 yet to finish.
