iPad PzC to be Delisted from App Store
It seems Apple will be removing PzC from the iPad App Store in 30 days due to lack of updates in many years. It's a shame, because the game really shone on the iPad. However, with no updates to support screen sizes larger than the original 10" iPad, consumers could easily be disappointed so I appreciate Apple's position on this. The App Store should be a trusted place for quality, freshly updated apps that work with the latest devices.

Re: iPad PzC to be Delisted from App Store
Looks like they might get a reprieve- the delisting only applies to apps that are receiving less than a certain number of downloads. While PzC is abandonware, it might still be over that threshold.

Re: iPad PzC to be Delisted from App Store
I would appreciate an official clarification. I’ve just bought PzC for iPad and all the Gold DLC, 80€ in total.
I’m OK if it can’t be bought anymore, but expect to be able to reinstall when I upgrade the iPad.
If the developers know it is going to be delisted, they should warn about that in the store.
So, does anybody know what’s the official stance on this?
Thanks!

I've been wanting to buy the gold upgrade to the base game for a while, but I can't seem to ever find it at discount, which surely accounts for relatively few new players, which is a shame, as I like Pz Corps I much better than Panzer Corps 2

It's a bit longer to wait, but Slitherine always have a sale over Christmas and I would expect it to be much cheaper then. I bought the original and all the DLCs individually and then the Gold version (to make it easier to reinstall) and still consider it good value. If you use Steam, but PzC Gold on your Wishlist and you'll get an email when it's on sale, which may well be before Christmas.

Yeah, but I'm talking about the iPad version - that's the one that never seems to get the DLC at a discount.rubyjuno wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 8:33 am It's a bit longer to wait, but Slitherine always have a sale over Christmas and I would expect it to be much cheaper then. Didn't realise. I've got the iPad version, which used to work fine on an old iPad2 mini, but I haven't played for a couple of years. I had issues with DLCs not appearing after I bought them, so I kept an eye out for the Gold edition being on sale, but as you say it never is. I've never seen any of the PzC iPad stuff discounted. I was also put off buying it due to the apparent lack of support.

Re: iPad PzC to be Delisted from App Store
Hi, just wanted to post a quick update about my email exchange with Slitherine support.
First time they told me that it’s abandoned and will not receive any update, and thus may happen that a future iOS update breaks the game.
I replied that I was not asking about that, but whether they were affected or not by the new delisting policy.
Their answer was that they don’t want to do any business with apple, and that if they had sent them an email they probably had not even bothered to open it.
I think it’s a very disappointing answer because they ARE doing business with apple, as I suppose they are not rejecting their payments. Taking 80€ per complete game and at the same time stating they don’t care what happens and that the game is abandoned without any warning is close to ripping their customers, in my opinion.
Quite sad, frankly. Let’s hope our game does not disappear…

Re: iPad PzC to be Delisted from App Store
You can't help but laugh. Some may argue that macOS represents a small portion of the global OS games sales but iOS is huge. To alienate loyal, existing, as well as potential macOS/iOS customers in such a way is not only arrogant but borderline idiotic from a business perspective. They are of course entitled to make their own decision(s) but as someone who has worked for one of the world's largest gaming publications, worked for a leading developer/publisher, and since then worked with some of the world's largest AAA gaming publishers I strongly would strongly advise them against the course they are taking. But good luck to them!iparlade wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 5:59 pm Their answer was that they don’t want to do any business with apple, and that if they had sent them an email they probably had not even bothered to open it.

Re: iPad PzC to be Delisted from App Store
Well, I've been disappointed with Slitherine a lot of times in the past and, frankly, it appears they keep on being the leading computer wargames company only due to the fact that there isn't much competition to speak of, because if there was any serious competitors, they'd have gone the way of the dodo by now...
Re: iPad PzC to be Delisted from App Store
Yeah, the hostility against Apple often comes out more as hostility against Slitherine's own customers who happen to also be Apple customers, seeing as those are the people most impacted. It's not like Apple actually cares what they think.iparlade wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 5:59 pm Their answer was that they don’t want to do any business with apple, and that if they had sent them an email they probably had not even bothered to open it.

Re: iPad PzC to be Delisted from App Store
I also brought Panzer Corps and all the additional up grades and can no longer use them. I emailed Slitherine a number of times about this issue and never received a reply. I will never purchase from Slitherine again due to this abandonment of their customers.
Re: iPad PzC to be Delisted from App Store
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I was about to purchase the gold expansion since I love playing the iPad PzC on flights, and am getting tired of playing the same German campaign over and over. But I guess I’ll stay away as there’s no guarantee that this will continue to work.
Such a great game..

Re: iPad PzC to be Delisted from App Store
I had the base game on my old iPad 2 mini for several years. Last month I purchased a new 2022 iPad and Panzer Corps was automatically installed as part of the set up. From the shop screen in Panzer Corps I was able to purchase the gold edition for £59.99 and it works absolutely fine. All DLC are available. So although the game is not in the App Store anymore, if you have the base game you can purchase the gold edition and it will be fine. Well, it was for me anyway...
