The satisfaction of learning this game

As of title. I feel I am just getting "normal" good. As frustrating can it be to see troops melt, when you don't know how to use them in the beginning, it's so satisfying to understand the game, talking in account all, using generals to rally, terrain, moar infantry, patience in setting apocalyptic flank charges.
And I am only at the third difficult level
Still can't win Castagnaro as Padua though

Yes, I have been playing this for over a year, still lose most of my games against human opponents, but feel like I am starting to get the hang of it.

The game looks deceptively simple at first glance, but as others have said, much like Chess, it is easy to learn, but hard to master.

What I really liked was that this game gave me the opportunity to experiment with various formations proposed in ancient military books, to see the principles and logic of what they were trying to show and the problems that would arise in real combat.
They don't always work, but this point is in line with reality. As it is written in the official military book of the Song Dynasty, "The General Principles of the Martial Scriptures", after spending several pages on a certain very complex formation, the next page would say, "When you lack cavalry strength, the enemy often assembles a large number of bow cavalry to attack the flanks of the formation and cause our defeat."
