I struggled with the correct setup last match. Would GentlemanRanker be able to start the match? Please! Thank you! :)

In addition to the promise of free lemonade, a rumour has started that the enemy camp has several fresh carrots, a brussel sprout and two sticks of celery. So, our slovenly peasants have picked up speed and are running full tilt towards the enemy. They are currently ignoring the four imperial batteries of medium and heavy artillery, and assorted light cavalry, light foot and the solid wall of maximum mercenary pike. I've never seen peasants so eager with scant regard for their well-being. It is fortunate that so many have rallied to the cause. While we hope to win for the cause, we also hope the imperialists inflict maximum casualties as we shudder to think of the consequences of several thousand peasants missing out on a portion of the brussel sprout!

A report from our intrepid reporter, Rye Porter, to the Slovenly anarcho-syndicalist commune on The Battle for Free Lemonade and Imperial Vegetables

Dear committee,

Greeting and salutations to our stalwart Pitchfork Brethren

It is with optimistic fervor that we can report our peasants have taken Kerry's four imperial batteries of medium and heavy artillery, and scattered the assorted imperial light cavalry. Their light foot and mercenary pike no longer maintain a solid line and are currently being swamped by solid blocks of huddled masses and pitchfork wielding lame and infirm (who are still hungry and upset that the enemy is keeping them from their fresh carrots). However, the majority of the mercenary pikes are still in good order. Thus, the battle is on a knife edge (or as we say on a pitchfork prong's point). We will have more news within the week.

Our General again dispatched a Tell-a-great-Gran who has just arrived at the committee rooms from the front via her hard ridden ass. Her missive has again been posted on the village noticeboard.
It reads:-
There will be a merry jig in the village of Herceghalom tonight to honour another stunning victory after our valiant men, women and midgets return from The Battle for Free Lemonade and Imperial Vegetables . A runner should arrive soon to ensure the spinning crystals and flickering candles from previously captured princely crowns will again illuminate a grand feast and subsequent clubbing at the village Dazy Knights hovel-inn and disco. The general will provide a large number of noble captives for those singles who have no slaves to club.

At 43% to 61%, the battle was no walk in the park. Fierce-some fire from heavy culverins caused so many one-legged peasants, we'll have to lash two together to work the fields this harvest. Sir Kerry of County Kerry fought intelligently with massed pike and gun, and fast moving lights stinging our flanks continuously. It was only with shear numbers and fortitude that we advanced steadfast in the hope that numbers would prevail. Due to the high casualty rate many units advanced hugging the farside of hills on our right. While our left and the centre left collapsed under the advance of the imperial pike, our right centre and far right made short work of the covering force as they fled in disarray into the centre. With the guns taken and lights in the centre and on the right scattered, heavy casualties abated. Consequently, it came down to push of pike with our remaining peasant pikes holding their own. Meanwhile, peasant mobs and supporting units worked their way around to their flanks and rear. Our cause was further buoyed by a number of timely rallies that sealed the imperial's fate.

awesum4 (2%) has beaten SMJohnson (47%).

I had the perfect battle field with a medium wood to my right front, a line of rough ground and 1 square forests across my centre and an open left side to the table,

Steve advanced with a solid line of pike, followed by his shooters and medium foot with a wall of mob bringing up the rear.

I had light foot and longbow with a single cavalry in the forest, they advanced to shoot up his second line with the cavalry flank charging disordered units one after another.

His pike in the centre suffered terribly form shooting from massed shooters and longbow occupying the rough ground, with my 4 artillery shooting through gaps, I had 3 pike blocks who moved into the gaps between rough ground and engaged lower morale pike.

My horse archers massed against units on his right until they disrupted then moved on to the next unit, one of his spear units charged to drive them off, charged too far and was hit in the flank by lancers.

My gendarmes and cavalry and remaining pike marched around his right flank then turned and marched into him. As his centre collapsed they charged into disordered pike, massed shooters, medium foot and mob.

This was not Steve's day, but he played to the end in what must have been a very frustrating battle for him.

Commiserations from the committee Steve. We recommend you shoot your scouts twice. Once for finding the most inappropriate terrain they could find and once more for accepting imperial gold coin no doubt!

Far be it from me to cast any shade on the glorious achievements of General GDod and his ragtag army of heroes ... but, it is my duty to report of the rout of yet another Imperialist force in battle.

Slovenian Peasants(markleslie) loss 17% defeated Imperialists(doyley50) loss 42%, a hard day for the Imperialist running dogs but a day well earned.

The enemy, barely discernable in the far far far far distance, deployed the strength of their force between two woods supported by more bronze than in all the church bells of Slovenia and appeared ready to await our assault.

First Citizen markleslie, as canny as he is brave, deployed the throng in a steeply echeloned line leading with the right flank. Pikes to the front, lesser armed stalwarts split between each end of the line to repel flankers.

The scene now set, the battle begins.

The Glorious army of the Peoples Front commenced the advance, the Imperialist horsemen swept out on both sides with more medium foot emerging from the woods to our left skulking behind the Gendarmes.

Quickly the Imperialist left were swatted aside clearing the way for our medium foot on our right to assault the wood and threaten the flank of the Grand Battery and mercenaries. Sparked into action the Imperialist phalanx moved over to the attack. Shock and awe.

Meanwhile, having weathered a storm of missiles, the Peasant pikemen of our trailing left flank finally ploughed into the hapless bowmen and arquebusiers and sent them to the fiery pit. The enemy Gendarmes on our left having given up on rounding our flank turned back to the fight only to be mobbed and dethroned.

Despite the devastating attack by the Imperialist keils, scattering many of our brave brothers and sisters, it was too little too late.

As darkness fell the woods on the Peasant right were cleared turning their flank and capturing many guns, our brothers still contested the enemy keils in the center and on our left a bloody reaping not to be forgot.

I am guessing that the upstart first citizen Markleslie hails from the as yet undiscovered Great Southern Continent. A place where there be dragons and grasshoppers as tall as a man, who carry their babies in a pocket on their belly. A place of vast expanses of bugger-all, with a giant bare rock in the very centre.
