Early Crusaders

Post by DaiSho »

Hi All,

I played a game against a friend of mine who is building an Early Crusader army. This was his army (from memory)

4 x 4 Armoured Knights
3 x 8 Protected Spearmen
1 x 8 Bow
1 x 8 Crossbow
1 x 6 Turkopoles
1 x FC
3 x TC
1 x Fortified Camp.

My suggestion was lose the Fortified camp and the FC.

Any other thoughts on making this army more effective?

I think the Armoured Knights are interesting. Being Knights they are naturally pretty deadly against anything but other knights, but being undrilled means that his whole army can't respond to the concentrations of a Drilled army.

I'd like some thoughts, as it's not a period I'm familiar with so can't really give a solid suggestion.

Drop one BG Heavy foot
Replace with one BG of 8 bases Dismounted Armoured Knights Superior Offensive Spears
Loss the Archers being unprotected they will just lose if possible take 1 BG crossbow as replacements.
Drop the Turopoles they will be picked on along with the points from the Camp take another BG Knights

3 x TC 105 points
5 x BG Knights four bases 400 points
2 x Heavy Spears Protected 8 bases 96 points
2 x BG Crossbow protected 6 bases 72 points
1 x BG Dismounted Knights Superior 8 bases 96 points
1 x Mob

Maybe this might work.
