downloading on external hard drive

Hi everyone,
I'm after a bit of advice here for a technically challenged person like me.
I hav a habit of saving a version of any games i buy on an external hard drive as a back up. I have had no problems with FoGII.
My question is with FoG medieval: if i download or copy the game onto an external hard drive, how do i run that game from the hard drive if i want to? Is there a particular folder i go into and click on a program?
And another dumb question: downloading the game has options for Europe and North America etc - what does this mean?
Apologies to all thesmarter people out there. I am just an old age gamer ...
