Egads, Sirrah, 'tis November already - but, beg pardon, I mistook the year intended.
what army are you most likely to play as of today (I am aware that this may change, of course once you get the lists in your hands and they dont have your favorite army
1) 16th Century Samurai (Heck, I already have 2 armies worth in 15mm!),
I think we all do.
2) 16th Century Koreans (horrible infantry but gotta love those rockets and Guerillas!),
Playing against it might also be fun.
3) 16th Century MIng Chinese (horrible infantry...but they just keep coming, and coming, and coming!),
Definitely. Someone has attractive Ming locally and it will be interesting to see how it can be used. Ming vs. Manchu for a start. Then go crazy?
4) English Civil War Scots (For God and the Covenant!),
What ever happened to the Covenant anyway? Locked away in an Ark of some kind, I think I heard?
Probably some vanilla ECW, but more interested in the different systems of the Swedes/Poles/Imperialists/Ottomans mainly TYW.
5) Ivan the Terrible Russians (enemies to the left of me...enemies to the right of me!)
Terrible Russians if they are intriguing - certainly Cossacks though, mixing nicely with the Poles and Khanates as well.
Swiss - I always play Swiss once or twice per rules set just 'cause they are, well, Swiss! Then disappointment sets in, though it was not so much with FOGAM and I have hopes for FOGR.
Next put Swiss contingents into the Italian Wars, an interesting period with fun field battles.
I have 1690s Anglo-Dutch so WOTLOA if the rules get the low-pike/bayonet transitional armies right.
I also have Moghuls and Khmer/Champa that should see action.
I'd play New World battles just for interest but lack troops for more than a skirmish.
Oh, and as a test, whatever the equivalent of West African Forest Peoples may be vs. Arabs or another "normal" list. Almost all inferior warbands, I thought them the weakest list in DBR and thus particularly interesting list to try (though admittedly the WAFP troops were almost entirely represented by surrogates).
That should cover a few years at least.
