Hello!
Just wanted to ask, do I need Spartan if I'm going to purchase Gates of Troy? Since Gates of Troy is kind of a gold edition of Spartan with all scenarios and campaigns from Spartan included plus the new ones... Which kinda makes original Spartan obsolete I guess?
Is Spartan needed if you purchase Gates of Troy?

IIRC you can play both on their own, but if you also own Spartan alongside Troy then it will allow you to play Spartan with the enhanced features of the Troy engine. I think!

Could you please check to be sure I don't buy the same thing twice? There's no refund in Slitherine store so I don't have a way to try and see myself.
I just remember that I had both games on a separate CD releases published by 1C in my country years ago. To my memory, I expected Gates of Troy to be a different game on the same engine but GoT release literally included every single scenario from Spartan. I don't know why the store still sells both games if the GoT is basically Spartan, but better: with more buildings/units/maps. Kinda confusing.

Troy did not include all the Spartan scenarios, the Troy page (under features) notes it includes 6 new scenarios. If you >also< have Spartan installed, then Troy does indeed list them all in its scenario list.

Thanks for the info, pip! Bought the full pack today: Chariots of War, Spartan and Gates of Troy. Legion Gold I already owned in Steam.
The mystery with Spartan/GoT is finally solved: In Spartan/data/maps there are 6 scenarios which do not exist in GoT/data/maps. These are the following folders: Anatolia, Crete, Greece, Lesbos, Sparta, Sparta2. I don't have these folders in GoT but somehow game recognizes that I also have Spartan installed and I can play these maps from Gates of Troy engine. Nice! Kinda weird design choice though, since these games should have been better merged, but okay. Also there's no intro video in GoT (not sure it ever was one).

There's a problem though with the Gates of Troy launcher (Windows 10). When I hit "Play" in the launcher, nothing happens. I have to manually run Troy.exe from the install folder to start the game...
Other buttons strangely work fine - like Manual, site links etc.
