Board width or length

Post by HansJansen »

Hi,

I have got a quick question.
If we play on a standard size board, do we always play across the width?
I browsed through the rulebook, but could not find anything about the topic.
The reason I ask is because I read on madaxeman that at a tourney they played both ways.

Thanks,

Hans Jansen

Trust Tim to cause confusion ;)

Players normally sit on the long side of the table and play across the width. If you look at P146 there is a diagram.

So, because of the diagram the rule is at tournaments we should always play across the width?

If it isn't specifically written, it's an accident. You should always play across the width, however you can of course manouver to play across the depth if you wheel your entire line around - happens very rarely though.

But you ALWAYS start with your deployment within 10/15" of the base edge (width).

You could do what ever you want. If you find that playing along the length of a table is more fun then fine. Noone is going to come and report you to the thought police ;)

To be honest I do'nt think it would be a good idea really no space to move about, that two extra feet does matter.........or so I'm told
