NO it is WRONG. Carsomyr is playing the Taira so you should be the Minimoto TH30n !!
Player one is the player setting up the game, which is you TH30n, so Player One should be Minimoto.

Rebel Taira will be represented by KIwiwarlord's team.
Minamoto by Gdod's team.

AFAIK Rebel Taira is the one setting up the game, but since this is not the case in this particular instance, I switched the player one to be Rebel Taira, while I play the player two -- Minamoto. (To give the 1st turn advantage to the originally intended host/creator.)

Round 1 Result Kiwiwarlord Taira 47%, Gdod Minamoto 65%, Win to Taira

Well what can I say !
Gavin was playing like the Legend he is, a great force mix based around the maximum number of high moral Samurai with Followers, maximum Mounted Samurai and only two Peasant Mobs. His army formed up in a very neat double line and performed some fancy manoeuvres ( advancing then retiring then advancing on one wing whilst retiring the other ) which caused my plan to get tangled up trying to get my Peasant Mobs into position to counter his Mounted Samurai.
My force composition was based around the minimum of the good quality Samurai with Followers, six Peasant Mobs which were to advance on the Mounted Samurai and perform their 'super troop' duties holding up the enemy cavalry whilst my Mounted Samurai charged down all the Warriors in open terrain, and a mass of the cheaper Warriors. This gave me a numerical advantage of over 4000 troops.
So after the initial parade ground drill from the Minamoto the Taira were all over the place and not in any way prepared to implement their battle plan when the Minamoto swept down and around my Right Flank which was trying, and finally succeeded, in getting two Peasant Mobs in front of two Mounted Samurai. The Minamoto were able to reinforce their attack with more cavalry which left my cavalry engaging in a cavarly battle. hmmmm not the plan.
The rest of the Taira turned and raced to support the their under pressure Right Flank but were attacked by the Minamoto Right/Centre.
The Minamoto had much success and pushed forward vigorously and this is where they came unstuck, although very slowly .
The Taira Left Wing cavalry had an open space full of Minamoto Warriors with no cavalry support so the counter attack began.
At this time I thought that I had no chance whatsoever of getting the better of the Minamoto but after a long battle which saw (I think ) three Minamoto Generals fleeing the field in rout, the more numerical Taira claimed Victory from the Jaws of Defeat.

Good game carsomyr!

Recap:

Minamoto's plan was to secure the hill for his left flank, after all, everyone knows that it is over when you have the high ground. Unfortunately, Minamoto underestimated the Samurai forces of Taira's right flank which started pushing up the hill. Taira also brought some unseen forces from the forest to assist and the Minamoto's high ground started to lose its advantages. Luckily, Minamoto was cunning enough to have some of his own forces hidden in the forest both in the middle as well as in the back for easier repositioning. Some in the back would be sent to assist the hill forces to hold their position, and the rest would try to secure the middle forest. Meanwhile the left flank of Minamoto wasn't going anywhere as Taira held it strong utilizing another forest. The bow cavalry was doing decent damage to Taira there, but nothing to write home about. The real breakthrough happened in the middle! Experienced troops seized the forest and this would open up the possibilities of flanking both the left and right side of Taira, or so it seemed. The major battle in the woods turned into utter chaos and Minamoto could no longer control its troops, pursuing the fleeing Taira and leaving sub-generals out of range. For a moment, Minamoto thought Taira can turn this around. But brave troops managed to hold the hill against all odds, even taking down a Taira general... and this sealed the victory for Minamoto.

SnuggleBunnies (Minamoto) defeats fybyyn (Taira) 41-0

About half of the Taira army defended a hill, while the rest awaited the Minamoto advance on flat ground. The Minamoto avoided the hill, and threw as many troops as possible at the locally outnumbered Taira troops on the flat ground. After a brief shower of arrows, the Minamoto charged, led by the Samurai on horseback, leading to panic and mass flight.

Round 1 Result PeterThePainter (Taira) 24 ahuyton (Minamoto) 51. Taira win.

When the call to arms came the Taira warlord was relaxing by the sea. Fortunately the Minamoto warlord had other matters to deal with and the battle was delayed. On commencing the battle the Minamoto were keen to make up for lost time heading straight for the Taira lines. The Taira were still reading two new military manuals by the Kiwiwarlord - "The Power of the Mob" and "Samurai and Followers What Are They Good For ...?" So the Taira sat and read.

Following advice in the latter manual minimal Samurai and Followers had been brought by the Taira so they had a 1,500 numerical advantage. This turned out to be useful, the long range archery of the Samurai and Followers units was poor and there was very little chance to fire at short range before melees began. In melee the Samurai and Followers were often beaten by the Ji Samurai. So a big contribution to the victory by the Kiwiwarlord.

The Taira planned to use the Conscript Mobs to neutralise the Mounted Samurai and therefore outflank the enemy on the open right wing. Meanwhile weak troops were to hold the woods on the left whilst the centre stood firm against the massed Minamoto Samurai and Followers. That was not how it worked out.

The Minamoto switched more mounted troops their left and there was no Taira breakthrough there. One of the Conscript Mobs broke upon being charged by the Mounted Samurai and the Taira questioned the wisdom of the Kiwiwarlord. The teacher was right and the student was wrong to doubt. The problem was that the Mob that broke were faced by a generalled up Mounted Samurai unit. When a Mob faced Mounted Samurai without a general they were perfectly capable of holding out. A second thank you to the Kiwiwarlord.

Meanwhile the Ji Samurai did well in the centre, whilst some lucky combat results around the wood on the left meant the troops there more than held their own. The Taria broke through in the centre and the subsequent flank attacks routed the Minamoto. Fortunately the beleaguered right wing held out just long enough for victory to be achieved. Even if it wasn't the way it was planned.

Thanks to my opponent for a good game and some great chat, you were disadvantaged as the Kiwiwarlord's manuals are not available to the Minamoto. Like someone often says "Until next time".
