2 unit Ideas for third allied DLC

Post by General Kranz »

I spent a lot of time playing this game and I don't regret it. We are approaching, I think, the end of the serie soon, unless they're doing more after the Allied Campaign. I now have some ideas for some future (enemy) units
and could most likely only been inserted to the Allies Campaign in the 3rd DLC. However, I had this idea a few days ago and just wanted to say it instead of never mentioning it.

It is true that the appearing of the units to come is more or less a bit of "alternate history". Since this has happened several times in the series for both sides and you don't have to create a complete scenario for it, you could insert them.

The Ideas:

There are many maps inthe game with a rail network. In addition to transporting normal units, you can also use 2 military units on it: a rail gun and an armored train that can be stolen from Poland in the Blitzkrieg Campaign.

Since there are hardly any more armored trains in the game, I have 2 ideas. I know that armored trains were hardly used in WWII (mainly by Germany, Poland and the Soviet Union) and mainly to protect their own rail network from partisans. However, they were also occasionally used as a front unit. Anyway, let's start now.

Panzerjäger-Triebwagen No.51

Little History: "It was suggested in mid-1943 to make the Triebwagen 51 , but by the time design and construction was completed in 1944-45, it was too late to be of any significant use in WWII. It was equipped with an armored railcar 7.5cm KwK L/48 guns(in Panzer IV/H), which provided strong enough firepower to be used for anti-tank purposes . There were only three of this railcar made (No. 51-53) and all were found at a Steyr factory by Allied forces, but it is questionable whether any ever went into service."

It should do about as much damage as a Panzer IV H against both infantry and armored units,at least a lot more than the current amored train, but the developers should decide that. However, this unit can only attack units in close proximity, i.e. stand in the field next to it. In addition, this unit is defenseless against air attacks compared to the current armored train in the game. It is only also slightly better armored than the original armored train. He should also have a supply for 3 rounds.

This unit could appear in the game when the allies (we the player) cross the Rhine or attack Germany. Two enemy Panzerjäger- Triebwagen could appear and the other one can be found in a factory (like in real life) and later used for further operations (Operation Unthinkable?)
Or you could try to capture him like in the Blitzkrieg campaign.
However, you could also just let him appear as a normal enemy unit without any mission attached to him.

Little History: "To protect their rail network against partisans but also to defend trains against air attacks, the company Steyr-Daimler-Puch (who also built the above-mentioned unit) was assigned the task of developing a family of light and heavy armored scout railway, which, among other things, should have the ability to move independently without a locomotive.

This led to the development and construction in November 1944 of the "Kommando s. Sp." (Command) and the better known Artilleriewagen s. Sp. (Artillery wagon) , which had either a Pz. III / N or Pz. IV turret with a short 7.5cm KwK L / 24 cannon. An "Flakwagen s. Sp." (Anti-Aircraft gun wagon) was also planned with a 20mm Flakvierling 38 Anti-Aircraft gun in a Wirbelwind turret. No photographs of this variant have been found and it is unknown if any were completed before the end of the war (s. Sp. short for schwerer Schienenpanzer= heavy railtank).

These wagons could form an armored train, be attached as support/defending unit on freight trains or patrol routes all by themselves"

This unit could be compared to a Wirbelwind on rails and can actively take action against aircraft in a comparison of the armored train and the tank destroyer railcar. In addition, like all other anti-aircraft units, it can switch between air defense mode and ground attack mode. He also has a supply of 3 rounds. The damage this unit inflicts could be almost identical to that of the Wirbelwind, but the damage it takes from enemy units is slightly higher, because they weren't very heavily armored.

This unit could appear in the same mission as the Panzerjäger Triebwagen to protect him and other units against air attacks or in a mission where you bomb targets in Germany and its defend a train that you have to destroy with air units.

2 photos of the other Kommando and the Artilleriewagen (so that you can get an idea of what they looked like):

That's it from my idea. As I said it is only a suggestion and can be used freely.

I apologize to all English speakers for my grammar.
I can understand English well, but I find it extremely difficult to write sentences myself. I hope it is somewhat readable, if you still have questions or have not understood something, write to me. (i.e. in this discussion) and i will try to answer it.

I wish you all a nice day and especially good health during these times. :)
