I just bought Mediaval and something I really like is the colours (red or green) in the in fight forecast pop-up and also the formatting of the combat log.
Is there any chance that this will be added to Fog2 ?
Whilst I am a it, there is a few things
- The combat log is really hard to read, especially to find when different combat start. I've seen it's a bit better in Medieval but could we not have a clear separator (for example) like
============ Impact =============
instead of shy
Impact
The actual combat log makes it actually impossible to find what happend on a particular fight when it's the enemy turn.
The only option at the moment is to toggle the combat log window options, which has a tendancy to hide the current fight.
It might be nice to either been able to move the combat log window, or even have no window at all, but beeing able to pause after every fight (with or without a way to access the combat log).
Last but not the least, I find it hard sometimes to evaluate the actual POA of a unit and compare it to an enemy : What wins between Superior/Proctected vs Above Average/Less Armoured ?
You can see it on the popup just before fighting but It might be nice to have the information on hover (maybe between the two units preview window) displaying just the POA difference (or side by side) for impact and melee (without taking the terrain into account).
Just an idea.

Re: A few UI improvment suggestions
You can move the combat log by dragging it - mouse over the top part of the window and then hold down the L mouse button while dragging it.
You can set the game to pause after each close combat by turning on Close Combat Reports in Settings.or even have no window at all, but being able to pause after every fight (with or without a way to access the combat log).
You can see a detailed breakdown of the applicable POAs before combat by turning on detailed tooltips in Settings, or temporarily turn them on by holding down the CTRL key. You can see them after each combat by turning on Detailed Close Combat Reports in Settings.Last but not the least, I find it hard sometimes to evaluate the actual POA of a unit and compare it to an enemy : What wins between Superior/Proctected vs Above Average/Less Armoured ?

Sorry, I didn't mean the Combat Log window but the Close Combat Report pop up, which often covers and hides the combat it is reporting onrbodleyscott wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 7:28 am You can move the combat log by dragging it - mouse over the top part of the window and then hold down the L mouse button while dragging it.

Indeed you can, but then you have the Close Combat Reports hiding the center of the screen which is what I am complaining about. Also, the Close Combat Reports doesn't really pause the game but freeze it. You can't move the screen, nor activate/deactivate the combat log et.rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 7:28 am You can set the game to pause after each close combat by turning on Close Combat Reports in Settings.
Sorry if I haven't been clear. I'm suggesting something similar but on hover of every unit regardless of their distance/status. The detaled tooltips is only possible when units are in charge distance of each other. It would be nice to be able to "compare" units even though they are 10 square aparts (at the beginnig of the fight for example).rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 7:28 amYou can see a detailed breakdown of the applicable POAs before combat by turning on detailed tooltips in Settings, or temporarily turn them on by holding down the CTRL key. Anyway they are only suggestions. I understand that there are other priorites and that not everybody will find them useful anyway.

You can drag that too. If you drag it into a corner it won't usually overlay a combat. If it does you can move it.BMAXIMUS wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 8:26 amSorry, I didn't mean the Combat Log window but the Close Combat Report pop up, which often covers and hides the combat it is reporting on.rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 7:28 am You can move the combat log by dragging it - mouse over the top part of the window and then hold down the L mouse button while dragging it.
It isn't hover, but you can see the information if you CTRL-L click on a unit. Of course it does not directly compare units.Sorry if I haven't been clear. And something for us to think about. I just wanted to make sure you were getting the best possible use out of the currently available UI.Anyway they are only suggestions.

I didn't realized you could drag the CC reports. I tried though and didn't work but if you just click on the top it works indeed.rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 10:45 am

That will massively helps, many thanks.
