Bactriana has no provincial unit to build & other bugs

Post by vonSchlausewitz »

In one of my current multiplayer games I hold the province Bactriana with Maurya but am unable to build the provincial horse archer unit.

There is simply no provincial unit to build.

I created the province several turns before and I have plenty of recources to build units.

Strangely there are other units shown (but in red so I can't build them) in the unit build menu which should not appear there, like ships, siege weapons, provincial units from other provinces, etc.

I also started a new single player game with Bactriana and can confirm that this issue happens there too.

I use the german version and as I have found no similar reports I suspect that this issue is related with the german version.

Slightly off-topic: In the province Hierasia I can build Bastarnae warriors (medium infantry) as a provincial unit but the unit tooltip states that this is a medium cavalry unit.

Even more off topic: I found several minor bugs in the text of the regional events where there are 2 variables added in the text.

It seems that the variables are reversed in the tooltips of those events: Example (from memory): "A wealthy citizen from 350 gold spent Rome to improve..." which absolutely makes no sense.

So the region name and the value of the benefit are reversed.

Thanks for the reports, I'll double check these issues.

Quite the necro, but the issue seems to still stand: the Bactriana region doesn't allow recruiting its provincial unit in both campaigns (the Grand campaign as well as the Persian DLC). The iranian armored cavalry can only be obtained through the regional decision (recruiting two provincial troops) regardless of which faction is played - or at least, not for Saka, Byzantion or Bactria in my experience.

On a side note while thinking about Bactria, though I understand the limitation of a single troop of companions, once it's out on the field the player can still queue some more up and resources are spent without getting the actual unit, depending the limitation of equipment (so if you could make two of them considering your equipment stockpile, you'd lose the related money/manpower/metal costs).

I think I got it. You need to go to UNITS.CSV, then find ID_AEA_PROVINCE_COMAGENE(there is only two of instances of them existing in the file) under Iranian Armoured Cavalry and replace it with ID_AEA_PROVINCE_BACTRIANA
That will allow Iranian Armoured Cavalry(IDS_UNIT_NAME_PROV_BACTRIANA) to be recruited normally as provincial unit.
The unit in question look like typical steppe light archer(have bow and fur hat, but no ranged attack).
Hope it helps.

Actually despite the mismatching text relating a horse archer, it's regular cavalry with a higher attack value than the standard one. It's a good addition to Bactria to resist Indian onslaughts from the south (through mountainous & alpine regions of the Hindu Kusch, their war chariots struggle a lot) or to contend with Saka's cavalry, which shines in Sogdiana & Chorasmia where the greek infantry slowly progresses.
