Conforming

Post by titanu »

In a game last night I had some Hypaspists H with some pike P beside them but at an angle with enemy E to the front. Enemy E charged and contacted the Hypaspists and staggered forwards into the pike. The contact was not base to base but shifted a bit to one side of the Hypaspists. Now do the enemy confirm because to do so the would shift across to the right on the diagram but the elements in contact with the pikes would have to move forward a bit more to stay in contact. They had the depth to do that but do they?
In the diagram the angle of the pikes is exagerated.

EEEEEEEE

P HHHHHH
PPP HHHHHH
PPPPP HHHHHH

Sorry the poxy preview shows the diagram correctly but then when posted it becomes duff. View it as a quote and you will see.

Putting the diagram in using code which puts it in fixed spacing gets (I think) this:

Code: Select all

     EEEEEEEE
     EEEEEEEE

P HHHHHH
PPP HHHHHH
PPPPP HHHHHH
PPPPPPP
If BG E charges then some bases will be in contact with H and some with P.

When conforming all bases in the conforming BG must line up in edge to edge and corner to corner contact. If this is not possible (and in this case that is so) then there is no conforming. If BG E is still fighting at the start of the movement phase of BG E and P then they will conform to BG E (assumong this is possible).
