Vanishing elephant....

Post by Morat »

A likely quite unusual glitch - but posting in case anyone has seen this/knows what to do....

I’m playing the Asia Minor 89 scenario (as Rome) in the “Rome Against the World” Tournament. My elephant unit has just broken a pontic light horse unit, and then simply vanished (not pursued off the board – just disappeared).

Turn 6 saw the break of the pontic horse/disappearance of my elephant. I ended the turn, notifying my opponent that my elephant seemed to have disappeared. We are now on turn 7 – he’s had his turn and it is now my move. No elephant. Rather than take the game further forward, I thought I’d report this and see if there was anything that could be done. If not, then fine – I’ll play on: but it’s worth reporting the glitch.

Suggestions/advice welcome!

Thank you for the report, it isn't one we have had before. The game could be rolled back 1 turn, but that would not fix the issue as it would only take it back to your opponent's turn, when the elephant had already disappeared. In any case, manually interfering with games in the automated tournament is not something we like to risk.

Was it close to the edge of the map? If a unit ends its pursuit on the edge of the map, there is a chance it will go off the map without visibly moving off the map. (i.e. It just disappears).

Thanks. No - it was three or four moves from the edge.

I'll crack on with the game - but thanks for getting back to me!
