Steam copy error message not registered to an account

Post by harveylh »

I installed FOG Medieval directly from Slitherine when the game came out. I recently installed it via Steam. I get the following message when I access multiplayer:

Game not registered to an account. If you have a Slitherine account, please enter your details here.

It shows in the two boxes that my user name and password are present. I have been able to access multiplayer with repeated attempts. However, I am concerned some of my difficulties may be due to my game not registered to a Slitherine account even though I have one.

In case there was a conflict with my copy installed from Slitherine, I have removed that version from my pc. However, the error message about my steam copy not registered to an account has not changed. I have also deleted and reinstalled my Steam version. That has not helped.

Please advise. Thanks for your help.

It isn't anything to worry about. The STEAM and GOG versions are not registered to a Slitherine account, and do not need to be. You do need a Slitherine account to log into MP, even when using STEAM/GOG, but the STEAM/GOG version of the game itself is not registered to that account.

You are the 2nd person who has raised this query recently, and we need to look at only showing the message for the Slitherine standalone version of the game.

Thanks, Richard for the update. It is good to know that Medieval does not need to be registered. However, in Steam when you access multiplayer screens for Field of Glory 2, Pike and Shot, and Pike and Shot Campaigns, all show they are registered to Slitherine and display ID numbers.

Yes, but they are running PBEM3 on a legacy server, whereas FOG2 Medieval is running on a native PBEM3 server, so they work slightly differently.
