It works for infantry too. Movement on foot is a small white dot. Movement on truck with disembarking at the end is another symbol. Movement without disembarking is a third symbol.
Wheeled transport just usually does not have a great "disembarkment range".

The trait becomes really strong with halftracks later on. Saves tons of time

There are different marks for units with a transport, basicly on foot (point mark), vehicle with auto-disembark (vehicle with a ^ mark, you still can disembark/embark within this area), vehicle without auto-disembark (vehicle mark, without Aggressive Deployment this is the area where you cannot disembark/embark your units).
