Which units can be airlifted?

Post by Scrapulous »

Is there a way to tell on the purchase screen which units can be airlifted?

Searching the board turned up this comment from dalfrede:
Airlift is infantry and light guns.
If gun can use SdKfz10 transport, it can be airlifted.
That's helpful, but it does still leave some questions open. Can cavalry be airlifted? Kradschutzen? I suppose I'll find out the hard way (selecting a core, deploying, starting the scenario, trying to board the Ju-52, failing, restarting), but I do think the UI could use some very basic enhancement here.

yop, complained about this some time ago, too. A unit trait airliftable would be nice.

There comes a time on every project when it is time to shoot the engineer and ship the damn thing.

Oh, beautiful, thanks again, dalfrede!

So it looks like motorcycles can be airlifted, but not by Ju-52s. Only by gliders and the Gigant. I wonder if we'll ever get to use the Gigant :)

De-Mystifying Air-Lift:

To make this issue as solvable and simplistic as possible... could not an information access Icon/tab/button be located at the point of decision where 'Air-Lift' capabilities are sought after in such a way... as possibly by either identifying the eligible 'Units' that are 'Air-Lift-able'... with an 'Air-Craft' symbol on or nearby their 'Unit Identification ICON'... or even by using an alternative coloring [Sky-Blue} to highlight the elible units for easy identification.

Its called... Keep It Simple Stupid!.

Probably from a codding PoV, just as effective and easier would be just under "Statistics" in the info window they could add something like "air transportable" to the list of special traits there where for infantry it already says things like "Force March."
