operation bagration

Post by kitty88 »

I have taken multiple attempts to try and win the operation Bagration level, but its damn hard! I can't work out why a cavalry unit can wipe out a panther unit or a tiger unit! Has anyone been able to win that operation? is there any particular way to prepare defences?

the only way i can think of that cavalary can take on tiger or panther tank is when u park them in close terrain like hills, forests, city, etc. the simple solution is, don´t park tanks there use infantry instead. ;)

I think Robbie has a good plan for Bagration:

Basically you form a defensive perimeter in the center plus a smaller position north. Pull all of the existing auxiliary units in the south back to help. Absorb and eliminate the Russian attack in the middle (first), then the south (second), then the north (last). I don't think it is necessary to hold Minsk until turn 10 (or at least it has not been worth it to me). You have a few turns to get organized (maybe 4-5) before they begin their push. You will need AT, arty, and 4-6 fighters; 5-6 pioneers; 6-7 tanks; 1-2 scouts; bombers are optional. Scout planes are helpful to see when/where the attack is coming but be careful scouting the south as Russian AA seems extremely powerful. If I remember correctly they are mostly 3 star units (which might also explain the cavalry's success against Panthers and Tigers).

Good Luck!
