Changing Colours

Post by Stones1985 »

Not sure if this has been asked before but is there any way to change the colours of units, particularly in multiplayer? Cant see anything under Options.

I find the Amber colour the 3rd player uses, and the Yellow of the 4th player quite difficult to tell apart. I showed the game to a friend of mine who is colour blind and he said he also found it hard to tell the difference between the red and green of players 1 and 2.

Not yet.

We did do a lot of testing with the colours and chose 8 specific ones that are supposed to work well for those who are colour blind, as two of our producers are. The one problem that occurs is with different weather states/seasons as theres quite a bit of post processing that affects the screen colour as a whole and so can mess with the variance between hues.

I'll see what else can be done.

Hi Patrick

Thanks for your reply.

If an option can be developed later for changing colours that would be great as it would enable people to adjust to their own circumstance.

In the meantime some of the later 8 colours in the multiplayer Turquoise (Player 5) and Purple (Player 8 I think) seem to contrast well to me. Part of the problem may be the order because the Amber player (Player 3) tends to start next to the Yellow player (Player 4). Perhaps simply swapping one of these for the Purple player would improve things.

Anyway thanks for looking at the issue.

Funnily enough we've just been discussing the order of colours as a simple solution. Turns out there are a number of unforseen complications that mean we can't change the order globally without causing broad spanning problems. We'd of needed to account for this very early on, but we're looking at some options. I can't guarantee anything in the near future but we'll see what can be done.
