All Knights Superior?

Post by Zoidfarb »

All knights are superior or Highly superior. Shouldn't there be some of lesser quality? Perhaps to give some local flavour to the lists? For example cultures that had reputable shock cavalry like France or Serbia would have superior knights. Also perhaps consider dismounted knights to be a notch below mounted quality. These are knights that prefer to fight on foot, they may not be good equestrians, this would also serve as an incentive to dismount in the deployment phase

There are city knights that are above average in some lists.

I also feel that the lists could have some variety. I don´t have the exact sources, but I´m sure that in a given battle there can be some units of English or French knights that have less cohesion that the unit next to them, so perhaps their list could do with a a couple of above average units and one highly superior, to represent picked warriors of a company that has been fighting together through an entire campaing. That said, to a certain point the game represents this with generals, so its not a big deal.

There are already 3 grades of quality and two grades of armor, so that gives you 6 variations possible even if they are not all used. Then you can add in a general which provides for another level of variation.
The Imperial list which I am using in the DL gives me 6 possible combat values.

We are talking about knights or in general? Because in general there is, if i count properly, at least 6 grades of quality and 6 grades of armor/protection.

That is my point. It would give some local flavour and variation to the lists.
