Master of Magic Facebook, Reddit & Discord Groups

Thought I'd posted this here a while back when this place opened but must have forgotten lol!

A few years ago I decided that due to many of the great old MoM forums out there disappearing or slowing down (although of course now we've got this nice shiny new one here thanks to Slitherine) I created a Master of Magic facebook group for fans to come and discuss all things MoM related like it's official addons and possible sequel coming from Slitherine, it's spiritual sequels (like Age of Wonders, Fallen Enchantress, Endless Legend etc), and support MoM related fan projects like (like the various MoM Patches, MoM-Implode's Multiplayer Edition HD, Caster of Magic, Leylines etc) eg posting important news , fan art and demo announcements etc.

It's very sad visiting the various old MoM forums and seeing so much activity in the past yet so little now. It sucks that social media has crushed all the good old forums out there but it is what it is and a social media page could bring in fans of all the long lost communities back together again. Plus if more forums go down again at least the facebook page would live on keeping the MoM community alive and attracting new members and new support for the fan projects.

I'm a member of some great retro gaming and tv show discussion groups where topics are posted almost daily leading to massive conversations about things that are 20+years old now lol! So it was about time Master of Magic had a place in social media for fans to discuss all things MoM related too! So in the end I decided to make my own as over the years I've created groups for other ageing classics like Sid Meier's Colonization, Starflight 3, and Freelancer which have been going quite well and have grown into nice little communities so I knew MoM would go well too and sure enough it's gone nicely and has over 300 members now. Also I've put links to this forum and the steam & GoG links for MoM in the group descriptions so if the page does well then it's good for the current license holder here too haha.

So any MoM fans lurking this forum are more than welcome to join us!

While I'm not aware of any Slitherine staff visiting the group to see what their fans are up to, Implode the creator of Master of Magic Implodes Multiplayer Edition and Seravy the creator of Caster of Magic sometimes drop by.

Nice to see MoM preserved and having a presence on all major social media platforms now. Especially now that Slitherine has taken the rights and is working on MoM related projects (eg a possible Master of Magic sequel and also with Seravy on his Caster of Magic remake)

The extinction of forums is a natural process. Remember, 6-7 years ago, people were still interested in reading posts, but now everyone is massively switching to visual information (photos, infographics, videos). Unfortunately, you cannot communicate much on forums in such ways.
