Something odd happened

Post by Uncle Lumpy »

I was playing a "Fight Now" battle last evening as the Bulgars vs the Cuman. One of my Nomad Horse Archers got tangled up in a melee with a Cuman Nomad Horse Archer. My unit was Fragmented but I was able to rear attack the Cuman archer with another of my Horse Archers. Which resulted in the Cuman Fragmenting and then Breaking and Routing on the next round of melee. Both my Steady archer and my Fragmented archer pursued the routed Cuman. At the end of two turns of pursuit, my Fragmented archer rear attacked a Cuman Lite Horse Archer, which was in melee with one of my Lite Horse Archers. The Cuman unit was Fragmented by the rear attack and In the next round of combat it broke and routed. Again pursued by both my Steady Lite and my Fragmented Archer.

I own and have played (a lot of) both Pike & Shot, and Sengoku Jidui. I also own and have played (less of) Field of Glory II (Ancients). I have never seen a Fragmented unit in any type of pursuit. Much less attacking anything. I admit that I'm not up on all of the fine points of the rules, so I'm uncertain if this is allowable or if it's a bug!?!

Sorry, but the only save I have from this match is an Auto save at the end of the battle, well after this occurred.

Any ideas or clarification on this would greatly be appreciated.

Only five battles into the game, and I'm having great fun!!

Yes it doesn't happen very often, but pursuit is the exception to the general rule that fragmented units cannot charge. The idea is that they get momentarily carried away by the excitement of routing an enemy unit.

Thanks! That does make sense. Just never saw it before.

I hope it happens more often for me, because that Fragmented unit did better all on its own than most of my Steady units did. LOL! :D
