Problem - Laggy Combat Log

Post by Atherys »

I know that my notebook isn't the best device to play a heavy game, but I legit can't open combat log without FPS drop (~5 to 10 FPS). As a note, I can run FOG 2: Medieval on 30-60 FPS with the lowest setting and 720p resolution. I just can't see the reason why a text log would lag the game so much...

If devs need any info about my hardware or game state, I'd be glad to provide. I really like this game as I like medieval battles and will assist as much as I can so that the game will get even closer to perfection.

Do you have FoG 2: Ancients? Does that run with no bother if you have it?

No, I don't have FOG 2. I knew about this franchise just a week ago.

There is a similar query in the Steam forum, Richard's reply was this:

"Yes, displaying the combat log does use up processing time. It is best not to keep it open all the time. The same applies to the Unit List."

Apologies if the Steam OP was you!

The issue is due to the processing required by the improved formatting. We are working on an optimisation. It has missed the forthcoming update, but will be added in a later update.

Nope, it was not me. I haven't posted anything to Steam forum. Maybe I should've checked there first rather than asking a same question in different platform...

Oh no, not at all. It's much better to ask here, the game designer and the Slitherine tecnical staff watch this forum more closely. Plus the players here are more knowledgeable (and helpful!).
