Prestige income/turn

I’m having a really hard time finding out exactly how income (prestige) per turn works in multiplayer maps - and standard maps i guess.

I get that income can come from surrender and intial captures of cities.

But the pr. Turn income, how does that work? What influences the size? I’m seeing massive differences from the figure reported if I click prestige in the top bar. It might say 400/turn, but I have a seemingly rather random number between 600 and 900/turn coming in.
One of the players I’m fighting has about 1500 prestige/turn coming in, and he’s only marginally larger on the map and own a couple of victory HEX’es more than me.

What it the income derived from, and how can I “calculate” what my opponents are taking in pr. Turn (approximately).

It depends on the map and your difficulty setting (General, Field Marshal, etc.). I believe if you move your cursor above the prestige indicator icon on the top center area of the screen, it will show how much you get per turn. I'm not certain though. I do remember for sure that it will give you the percent of all that you would will receive if you completed the map at that turn.
