Posted this to Steam as well but figured I'd go to the source:
Any way to disable idle animations for units?
Moving / firing animations are great but when my Eldar stand in a hex they get all jerky, twitchy and fidgety - which sort of spoils the immersion for such an ancient and graceful race.
I checked the XML and could not find anything in there beyond what is available to manipulate via the UI.
Proxy Guys - is there an entry I can stick in there to disable Idle Animations ?

Re: Any way to disable idle animations for units?
Data/world/units/( name of the faction ) name of unit.xml contains animation idles references.
Back up the xml file
Delete line
idleanimations=
And the next 3 lines after it
Idleanimationcount 0 seems to do the same thing ( you change the number in there from whatever it is i.e 5 to 0 which means it's not running the idle animations).
I tried that with tactical Marines just now and it seems to work fine
they stand there until ordered to do something and they respond to fire and also overwatch just fine, only now they are not fidgeting doing itchy and scratchy .
I might do that myself as the game runs a bit hot and all those idles on scores of units from every side that the computer has to process are not really needed in a strategy game,
I feel different about a first person FPS yeah idles are much more important for NPCs that they're not just statues, although in this instance, Gladius is keeping my house warm at this time ( yes it is currently January ).

Re: Any way to disable idle animations for units?
Thanks Steam Slither.
Just a warning to those that use mods - you may need to go into the steam workshop dir for the numbered game ID for the product in order to make the changes.
I had to do this for the Eldar Mod and find the Ulthwe subdir.
Being able to do this however is really awesome for Chaos if one plays Thousand Sons. Imagine (without this change) all those slightly alive suits of armor doing that herky jerky dance when idle?
Turning off the animations now makes them stand appropriately still until the Sorcerers spark them into action ....
