i guess the title says it all.
i loved the JTS normandy game, but it was huge, unwieldy and i could not find any MP options.
and now i've lost the cd.
what are my other options?

At a tactical level SPWaW (a old classic) can be a ton of fun but is not exclusively normandy focused.
I assume you want beach landings which sort of makes it challenging.......you often get different scale and focus with other digital games:
GG's WiTW is massive and very detailed covers far far more than the landings and at a bigger scale.
TOAW IV has some decent Normandy scenarios (variety of scales) but can feel clinical...nato counter pusher style....not a lot of WW2 specific chrome...but offers a classic war-game construction kit type of gameplay that some find very hard to put down.
Something like Strategic Command is likely not going to feel detailed enough coming to it from JTS Normandy and the scale is different too.
Battle Academy is great but more cartoony gfx style, also smaller scale tactical......there is a Normandy campaign with some hedgerow battles reminiscent of a table top miniatures WW2 squad level game with individual vehicles.
The JTS/Wargame Design Studio guys did a lovely job with that Normandy game (the OOB research and historical background material they included is super cool) but your critic of it is understandable...especially playing the larger scenarios...the only MP option is traditional PBEM FYI.
There are other things but the tricky part is the scale and focus changes a lot between different digital games. The JTS one effectively covers all of the normandy landings in a more comprehensive way than many.
If you include the WEGO of something like Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy that is arguably at the tactical level one of the better normandy ground combat simulations but is more focused on hedgerow fighting and not on the landings.

I think this SSG Normandy game was highly regarded at the time.....not sure how it has held up: https://www.matrixgames.com/game/battles-in-normandy
But with many of these older games and even some newer ones there isn't going to be a "modern" multiplayer system. If that is something that matters to you.

Steel Panthers World at War
Some prefer the SP Camo WinSPWW2 based on a different version of the old Steel Panthers games. It is more recently updated / has a option (paid) that supports https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/spwawdepot/higher resolutions then SPWaW does.
SPWaW has a paid version with mega campaigns but also a free version without mega campaigns

Also thought of this one....would need a DOS emulator but the V for Victory series is a blast from the past: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_for_V ... Utah_Beach
https://youtu.be/X-o_xwtk29U gameplay video of the slightly later one.
