Where to see errors

Some errors are shown as crashes.

like I didn't have a translation for my scenario and I had to add it to ALIASES.txt

but when I added a new faction and it didn't show up on the list there were no error in error.txt nor in trace.txt?

finally found the problem that I didn't have a flag for my new faction, but where could I have seen that easier?

Errors should show in trace.log, the other log is more low level stuff.
