successor and roman camps and terrain

Post by footslogger »

Camps (28mm)

I have the Baueda tents for my LRR. I'm looking for suitable tents for greek successor armies. I don't really know what to look for. Osprey doesn't yet have a title for camps of Alexander and his successors. Ideas?

Towns (28mm or 15mm)

I might actually prefer 15mm for my town terrain. I'd like a Greek or Roman villa or temple. Preferably I'd like to buy one that's already painted. Any pointers?

Thanks

Good question - I have no clear answer unfortunately.

Not sure if you have seen the DBA Fanatici site but if not suggest you check - http://www.fanaticus.org/DBA/eyecandy/index.html. Not sure that they will have the 'right' camp set up for the Successors but they have lots of bright ideas.

I was planning to use Magister Militum ( http://www.magistermilitum.com/) and Battlescenics (http://www.battlelinescenics.com.au/epages/baba4069.sf) tents - they do a larger range in 28mm than Baueda. See what you think. I was thinking of a mix of their tents for my Successors. Maybe use the larger Roman officer one as the 'command' tent!

For BUA's check out the Fanatici site as well as Hovels or in the Grand Manner - there are many others around as well. The Miniatures Page web forum will give you many hints.

Bonne chance

Alexander should be Greek style, as also Macedonian Successors (like Pirro). Pontic, Seleucid and other Asiatic Successors could be Greek or Persian style. Mithridate for example had taste more near to a Satrap than a Greek King.

Hi,
regarding 15mm Roman camps, Corvus Belli sells very good figures:

thanks for the links. I've been in touch with Baueda and they plan to release some persian and greek style 28mm tents in the somewhat near future. That should do me on the camps.

I'll chase down the items in the links you posted in hopes of getting something good for a BUA.
