Div 2 challenge set up ,
TomoeGozen(Carthaginian 262 - 236 BC) challenges snooky51(Viking(Ireland) 795-899AD)
I couldn't see a Viking(Ireland) 780-899AD list as shown in the matchups , I'm guessing this is the right one...

Re: Chaos Tourney IV
Division 2 result:
Tomoegozen (Spanish) defeats Rob123 (Parthian) 66-42.
A swirling , confusing mess dodging between the various bits of bad terrain eventually evolved into lots of separate individual battles all over the place. It came down to who was lucky enough to get the 60% first.
Thanks to Rob for a tough interesting game.

Division 2 result:
rbodleyscott (Early Achaemenid Persian) defeated bomber23 (Mercenary Greek) 58-20
Despite a hail of arrows, inflicting a number of early routs/autobreaks, the Greeks were at last carving their way through the Immortals, but got outflanked and defeated in detail elsewhere.

This game never happened. He must be referring to another result. Delbruk requested a map reroll. I told him to set up the another game but he has yet to do so.

Re: Chaos Tourney IV
Division 2 result:
Tomoegozen (Byzantine) defeats bomber23 (Vandal) 63-51.
Yes , it was as close as the score would suggest! On a pretty much totally open and flat battlefield it was a weird game of nearly all lancers both sides chasing each other round and round , pursuing off in very unhelpful directions...
Very random and unpredictable, it could have gone either way.
thanks to bomber23 for the game.

Re: Chaos Tourney IV
Division 1 result
rs2excelsior (Macedonian 260-148 BC) beat General Shapur (Byzantine 988-1041 AD) 46-10
A fairly straightforward battle. The Macedonians formed with the pikes in the center, medium infantry to the right positioned to take a hill in the middle of the field and cavalry screening the left. The Byzantine lancers were ill-suited to charging the Macedonian phalanxes and so the burden of attack was on the Macedonians for most of the battle. The phalanxes were forced to take repeated low-odds impacts as the lancers kept falling back, but managed to catch enough in melee to get an early lead - if I remember correctly, the score was 30-0 before the Byzantines scored a point. The Macedonian cavalry had some initial success holding off their Byzantine counterparts, though were eventually becoming overwhelmed by the lancers - though not quickly enough to save their main body from the rapidly advancing hedge of spears.
The battlefield at the end: Well played General, it was a poor matchup for the Byzantines and it didn't help you were outnumbered basically 2-1.

One good thing about the chaos tournament is trying new tactics with untested armies - however, the Bizzys cav was never going to work against lances unless you got unlucky. Well played.
