Vincent- incurable romantic :)
And the Post-Roman army's cavalry would be potent against the Early Saxon army, which has no mounted to speak off. I find that a fascinating match-up--the Post-Roman Brits (say circa 5th century) can have the drilled cavalry and HF with light spear. The Saxons can have some superior HF impact foot to go along with masses of average HF. Strikes me as a nicely balanced match up, with each side having a few advantages :)

What do you mean get crushed.

Knightly Lance = +

So, in impact all you have to do is roll 5's and 6's.

Better armour =+

So, in melee all you have to do is roll 5's and 6's.

I don't see much of a problem :)

Right....it is in melee when the knights get double the dice that he poor cav get!! Of course the kniggets are more expensive so you might be able to split their attack/dice.

No no no, you poor misguided soul. The knights cost 26 points. Your cavalry cost around 13 or so, so point for point you're going in with twice as many bases. Even MORE if you take Poor Cavalry.

Perhaps you should be looking at an Indian list  . That way you're not wasting points on armour that you're not going to use :)

Another question for the authors before 500 there is a requirement for 4 bases of drilled cavalry can Arthur's companions if taken as drilled fill this requirement?

BTW to the Authors well done it is a very nice list for painter and gamer rather than winning comps. Though I think the allies will add a bit of extra punch to give you a fair chance of winning battles.

Hmmm - I wasn't sure the allies added much - maybe my analysis is unfair?

..but then again, if you are looking for colour rather than performance ...!

Tim,

I found the page your link is for the other day. I am not sure any war gamers would seriously put medieval knights on the table and claim them a Arthur's companions it could be taking the colour and variety of this Army a step too far.

Oh I don't think too many people would mind. When I first thought about building this army, I thought about making in "Pythonesque". Unfortunately I couldn't find any coconuts!
