I thought "Paddy Oxford" and "Alasdair Oxford" were Siamese twins separated at birth!

Re: Southern League - Clevedon round - Take away - Sun 24 Ma
Would anyone else like me to up date there details on the list?
There is now an even number of players as Jery Bray has stepped forward with a Hindu Indian army.
Not sure this helps, as with so many of you, I am sure my daughter will need my help. So whoever I play may have to be a little understanding, Sorry in advance.
Have nearly finished the prizes and will hopefully post some pictures of them onThursday night. Have to watch a school play tomorrow.

Re: Southern League - Clevedon round - Take away - Sun 24 Ma
Gave my Hawaiians a quick run out tonight against Mughals.
+ve
* It's VERY big
* Surprisingly resilient especially with a GC
* hard to get an outright win against - too many BG's to kill.
* The slings and LF are quite effective.
* Warrior overlaps are very useful
-ve
* Hard to deploy and organise - I've resorted to maps, movement trays and labels.
* With so many BG's it takes an age to compete movement, therefore a very slow army.
* Unlikely to get big wins because of speed
* Rarely up in POA's
* Relies on a good terrain position to protect the flanks.
So an interesting experiment - lets see how Sunday goes!

Seems like we'd need 5 hours to break this monster down? Just the kind of challenge that Alasdair would enjoy!

No need to worry Don, tip 'em on the table and my Samurai will find themquackstheking wrote: * Hard to deploy and organise - I've resorted to maps, movement trays and labels.

Looks like there are plenty of armies with speed to spare* Unlikely to get big wins because of speed
Please, please, please let me draw them in the first round...* Rarely up in POA's

Hope not Dave - having played as Samurai before, I think that's the one army that will go through the Hawaiians like a knife through butter.
They're both spear and warriors, but the Samurai are armoured (minimum), have cavalry and bow plus are numourous enough themselves not to get swamped by the Hawaiians!
I'm only using them as it's a case of "I've got them so I need to play them!"

Almost ready for Sunday.

Hopefully worth fighting for.
Best presented army will be decided by my daughter, after all she is an art student.
See you all Sunday.

Why is the figure on the winner's trophy modelled on Dave Allen?
Re: Southern League - Clevedon round - Take away - Sun 24 Ma
Because it's less unlikely than him winning the "best presented army" trophy.timmy1 wrote:Why is the figure on the winner's trophy modelled on Dave Allen?
Re: Southern League - Clevedon round - Take away - Sun 24 Ma
Just checking the Nellie rules this morning and I see my spearmen will be a factor down at Impact.
Oh well, at least they're not lancers!

But at least it is not two factors down as some of my BG's are.

Lancers are on evens against spear warriors at impact!
Nellies have to worry about the melee phase when the warriors are on evens in the fighting files and get ++ on the overlaps!
I think there are going to be some really interesting match ups on Sunday with lots of looking up POA's!
