I don't quite understand the author's idea. I have a bunch of enemies, but my cavalry contingent from the core cannot participate in this map at all. What did the author want to show us? And for some reason, the death of the main character does not immediately lead to defeat!
I see, so I will investigate.
My initial intentions : Polybius describes a skirmish preceding the battle of Agrigente. The Numidian cavalry (I also used medium cavalry in the game, as the Numidians have no anti-cavalry attack) was sent to harass the Roman camp in order to force the Roman cavalry into battle before the main armies were in position. The Roman cavalry decided to make a sortie, but the Numidians immediately retreated. The Romans pursued them, believing they were fleeing. However, the Numidians were actually trying to lure the Roman cavalry into a trap: Carthaginian troops were lying in ambush and attacked the Romans just as they thought they were winning the skirmish.
Since the Roman cavalry suffered very heavy losses, I decided to add a consul to bring back to camp alive to give an achievable objective to a skirmish that the player is supposed to lose. Once the consul's unit reaches the first objective, the ambush is triggered, and a second objective appears where the consul must be brought back to camp.
About the deployment of core units :In fact, you can deploy two units near the second roman camp to accompany the consul's cavalry.
About the death of the consul : It is the point I have to investigate. If he dies, you are supposed to lose at the end of the next turn (not immediately, since victory condition is trigerred at the end of both the player AND computer turns ; and since the computer play first in this scenario, the defeat screen should arrive only at the end of the player turn).
An investigation is required![]()

Finally, I completed this challenging mission. The consul is safe, and we continue our journey.
