ps: since we jumping into variable-sweep wings era here, is it too much trouble to make sweep wing icons for fighters and straight configuration for ground attack variants? Tomcats and Floggers can sure benefit from this. So will do Su-24 (recon configuration from 1.3 for example) and Aardvarks if we'll ever see 'em =)

upd: something like this (sorry, I really suck with graphics)
Hi Estherr!,
At the beginning of my work with Modern Conflicts I thought of a switch option for variable-sweep wings aircrafts, but it turned to be time consuming. Also I researched those particular planes and I concluded that most of the time they use their extended wings options. So I decided to keep them that way.
By the way, nice editing there!, even more considering you are using a non-transparent icon
But I least I can fulfill your desire about the Aardvarks :D

They are overflying some Coalition armored units 8)

Akkula.

Heya Akkula!

My idea was about visual difference, that is it. But I see your point here... Guess swept wings will be missed :P

And no models involved - I just edited your screenshot a little bit. No idea how to deal with ingame models really

ps: Is that a sheridan among the coalition armor btw?

Hello boys and girls.
Some updates of the upcoming Persian Gulf '91 scenario.
- Size: 108x94
- Sides: Iraq / Coalition (USA, UK, France, Saudi Arabia)
- Turns: 60 (can be changed according to tests)
- Starting from 30/01/1991, beginning of Desert Storm operation
- Multiplayer and Singleplayer
The objectives are pretty basics, from the point of view of the Coalition player is a race against time, for the Iraqi player is a matter of survival:
- Coalition: Take all objectives AND take all the oilfields BEFORE turn 30
- Iraq: Hold Baghad (which is OPTIONAL for the Coalition side) and 7 additional objectives OR hold all the oilfields by turn 30 (prestigious victory)
The scenario shall include small bonus rewards, i.e.: the Coalition player will receive a prestige boost if he/she destroy the refinery located in Baghad (pretty far and dangerous airstrike).
Regarding the units, I tried to include all the iconic equipment involved in that operation; but keep in mind some didn't make it. It took me a LOT of time and effort to add the new material, so I expect you guys understand if some beloved unit is missing :( . But anyway, rest assured you will find more than enough :D
Now some pics.

The Iraqis are taking position at the outskirts of Kuwait, but the Coalition airforce is already spotting their movements:

Refinery in Baghad. Its destruction will grant prestige for the Coalition player and a one-time penalty for the Iraqi one:

Ohh, can you see them?:

The R-17 Elbrus (or Scud) artillery unit has a huge range and its the elite of the Iraqi defenses:

Excellent the only thing that slightly "rubs the eye" is a self-Propelled Artillery Installation it is not proportional ! And so I look forward to the release of your new version !

It is all nice as always, my only suggestion would be to use the vanilla "desert" style city tiles instead of these European ones from Massi. European cities somehow look strange to the eye in this Middle East setting in my opinion. So something like this maybe instead:

Hi McGuba!, thanks for your comments.
Yes, I had cities dilemma when I started to work on the map. The problem is that big cities like Baghdad are not exactly similar to the game overlays, that is why I chose to use the Massi's ones.
Maybe one solution could be in between: to use Massi's graphics for big cities like Baghdad and Al Basra and the vanilla for small towns. Is totally doable.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Akkula.

Hello there!.
I am happy to say that the release of 1.4 will be soon. Right now I am testing the multiplayer scenario with Estherr, a lot of findings that can be easily fixed.
At the same time I reworking some units icons:
Image
And here, more units that will appear in the Persian Gulf '91 scenario:
Image
The beast howitzer M110, the attack aircraft Buccaneer, the Iraqi J-6 and the iconic T-55 Enigma!.

In the meanwhile I strongly recommend you to play the multiplayer scenario South Atlantic '82. It is a really unique and fun experience, for all those who follow this mod maybe you can use it to kill time during the wait for 1.4. :P

Akkula.

Hello guys. I expect to release 1.4 these coming days :)

In the meanwhile I managed to create more desert-style villages and towns just like McGuba sugested.
Image
Image

In the end the scenario will have less turns than I anticipated, around 30. Which I think it is just perfect, not too short, not too long. Also the final size has been tuned down a little bit.
We are performing the final tests with Estherr for multiplayer, and my tests against the AI went pretty well :)
All is set, in a few days the Persian Gulf '91 scenario will be out on the streets, along with a lot of improvements to the base mod.

Best regards,
Akkula.
