Just finished my game as Allied against junk2drive - thanks for the game j2d :)

Score was:

Allied scenario victory - 30 pts
Allied flags 7 - 70 pts
Axis KIA 17 - 34 pts
Allied KIA 7 (minus) 21 pts

Total Allied score = 113 pts.

Total Axis score = 0 pts.

So looks like a map biased towards the Allies then!

Congrats

Rookie mistakes and caution didn't help my cause. Plotting arty and air is always a crapshoot. Hope I was better than the AI

I am playing as Germans we are on the 3rd turn.. Allies allready have all the flags and the highground. I don't think you guys are having an "off day". The game is rigged in Allies favor, I am going to try my best but I wouldn't be surprised if all the games turn out like the 2 of yours already did.

Well, it´s good to see i am not alone...but still, I made quite a few bad moves and my opponent played much better than me.

In any case, the great thing about this tournament is that when we find a case like this (too bad we got another biased scenario in the list...) it wont affect that much the results, since all Axis will be balanced with a nice and big zero on their scores.

Or maybe someone can get way ahead if he manages to beat his opponent. We will see.

The fact that the Allies can get into the fort ahead of the Axis certainly gives them a leg up. I am curious though, how the Allies managed to get the flag at Axis start point in 3 turns? :o

Hopefully the scenarios will balance out overall. I'd think that Bocage Village which has a narrow map constraining maneuver and a hellacious Axis force to contend with might be one such "balancer."

This one is a bit like tic tac toe where whomever goes first gets there first. The two turn delay for the German arty means guessing at where the enemy will be at that time or waiting and hoping.

Absolutely agree with you, j2d, about the advantage of going first -in almost any scenario. This one is particularly noticeable because the key objective is within reach in two turns.

On your other point, Allied heavy arty or bombers are also two turn delay.

I guess I worded that wrong. I played this map for the first time and wasn't sure how far the Brits could go in 2 turns. So my choice was to guess at where they would be or wait until contact and hope that the line stayed the same for 2 turns after that.

I got you. Unless you've got a psychic plotting fire, it's a guessing game.

Progress?

Post by Crestone »

Wondering how the rest of the field is coming in their 1st round games?

At this rate we should conclude sometime mid-summer 2011

My game with CharlyG is on turn four I think. I'm away from my usual PC and the one I have access to is not quite up to the task. I will be back home on Thursday and then things will speed up I hope.

It's the journey, not the destination. (From someone who pays a lot of money to move "rapidly" across the lake at 3 to 6 knots every summer.)

That being said, shawnt63 and I are on our last turn.

I certainly understand that everyone moves at their own pace, has various demands on their time, and that the unforseen does arise.

Speaking simply for myself, once a game begins, it feels good to maintain a flow and a pace that allows one to "be in the now" rather than trying to recollect what may have taken place two or three days ago.

No problems. Enjoying the camraderie, the competition, and looking forward to more. :)

I agree as well!
We are in the early days, it is looking good for the Allies right now. Arminius has a strong hold on the fort me thinks..

Still almost all the war to be fought though, so many things can still turn around...

Score 30 points for winning the scenario 30

Score 10 points for each flag held at the end of the scenario 60

Score 2 points for each enemy unit (of any type) killed 24

Deduct 3 points for each of your own units (of any type) killed 30

TOTAL: 84

How many points did your opponent have? Based on your report it looks like zero, but I just want to confirm that is correct.
