Joe (Axis) vs. Borger (Allies) [no Borger, please]

Has anyone been severely constrained, when playing Russia, by the Murmansk convoys not getting through?

I have. I've used that tactic to good effect against several players. My commitment generally includes three or four bombers, one fighter, four u-boats and a 5-effectiveness leader. This force creates a "death zone" and I find usually one of two things happen, which are: (1) I either get to go after the Murmansk convoy without interference or (2) the UK/US try to escort and I sink a number of their escorts.

Also, having subs operate so close to Norway means that they can quickly return to port for upgrades and repairs.

I also treat the axis air force deployed in Norway as a reserve force that I can use in France or Germany as needed.

That's a commitment of roughly 650-800 PPs, not counting the cost for the invasion itself and the garrisons (well, okay, there's a small additional revenue)! Is it really worth it, can you destroy that many convoy PPs?

It is a lot, but if he is buying complete air and sea superiority over the North Sea and the Channel and he sinks a few destroyers it might be worth it. Is a late Sealion feasible in this context?

From my experience late Sealion operation is nightmare for axis. Reason is that when you do it in '40, britts have weak forces and income around 20 PPs. When you do it in '43, for example, they have income around 50, fat convoys, americans, and usually large force of strategic bombers, used to bomb Germany. Its pretty easy for allies to destroy or at least to block axis beachhead in this case. Though, late sealion can work probably, if it is real surprise and axis have very strong air support.

Yes, I've been curious about that gam as well. Unfortunately, this AAR game against Borger has been put on hold. I won't go into the details, but suffice it to say that it is an internal matter within the GS development team (of which I am a very minor part of). Hopefully we can resolve it soon and continue playing, but the ball is in Borger's court as far as that goes.
