A minor point, if it is a Raid, which we don't have any, then who sets up the battle ?

It's a good and relevant question.

As rules currently stand, it's always the defender in all attack types. However, it makes sense (as we do in other tournaments) to have whoever is "Chooser of map type" (which in the case of Raid and Revolt is the attacker) to set up the battle.

Looked at your challenges in the Multiplayer Lobby, as it currently stands, and two things that you need to change:

1. Map type: You should specify map terrain (not pot luck) based on what is possible for the province in which battle takes place. If it's Dacia, then you can choose between North European Wooded and North European Hilly (see page 6 of rules).
2. Scenario: should always be Remove the Head, not Open Battle.

So please cancel the existing challenge and set up a new challenge. Thanks!

4. Conquest in Gallaecia: CaptainWalterSavage as Visigoths is attacker, tyronec as Suevians is defender.
The Suevians beat off the marauding Visigoths after a tough battle that they were losing (score was 35-32 to the Visigoths) by managing to hunt down the Visigoth CinC (two warbands and a unit of lancers) and run him down with a unit of light archers as he was routing away.

In the Conquest: Soissons attacks Franks, the Soissons C-in-C (Syagrius) fell half-way through the battle (the score 29-11 in favour of Soissons), ending the fighting (well, not really automatically: since I had forgotten to select "Remove the Head", sorry olin0111 and sorry CaptainWalterSavage, after all my posts about your battle setups...).

Already from the death of the Visigothic C-in-C (CaptainWalterSavage's), we will at the end of this round select new major factions to play.

In additions, through the special rule of Soissons (kicking in if its C-in-C is killed in battle at any time during the first two rounds of the tournament), Soissons now becomes the vassal of Franks.

Syagrius died like a true Roman. Too bad he was not leading Romans of the old age and locals were not impressed - they soon capitulated to Franks. Sad day for Imperium Romanum!

I was very foolish. I was winning and if my CiC had held on for one more turn I think I would have had a glorious victory. Instead ignoble defeat. It was a very close game apart from my silliness with my general. Great strategy from Tyronec to go for the golden snitch.

Thanks for the game, Madmax!

7. Foreign invasion: Sabir Huns attacks East Rome. Attacker province: XXXI Alania. Defender province: XV Pontica.
Sabir Huns win after cutting down the Roman CinC in an early combat, the score was 4-0 to the Romans but it was only turn 4 and the game had barely got going.

Aoch, many C-in-C's of the major factions having been killed now already... :)

As rules currently stand, it's always the defender in all attack types. However, it makes sense (as we do in other tournaments) to have whoever is "Chooser of map type" (which in the case of Raid and Revolt is the attacker) to set up the battle.
Please note EVERYONE that I've changed the rules so that as of next round:
  • it is the chooser of the map type who sets up the battle in the Multiplayer Lobby (not necessarily always the defender). Who that is will depend on the attack type, so look in Types of attacks in the rules to see whether it's the defender or the attacker.
  • Score adjustment each round will also include -0.2 for each of the player’s battles that round in which his army’s C-in-C fell in battle. (This involves all of a player's battles, whether if he's playing as his major faction or a minor faction or foreign faction.)

Aetius39 (West Rome) defeats Madmaxbot (Gepids) 57-26

On an unusually forested and hilly map, the Gepids hid in the forests, waiting for the Romans. It was a good idea; it caused all sorts of confusion and trouble initially. Unfortunately for them the Romans stayed disciplined and when the main armies clashed the Gepid cavalry was, after some time and uncertain mid-battle fighting, driven off the field. Tough and different game from most, it was fun and Madmaxbot did a good job with the army that he had. GG!
