The local Premier Inns are all booked up.
There are spaces available at the nearest Travelodge but expensive. The Oxford Wheatley Travelodge is about 8 miles away.
Do not really know the hotels in Oxford.

In the words of Second Technician Arnold Judas Rimmer of the Jupiter Mining Corporation ship Red Dwarf: "...in a previous life I was Alexander the Great.... 's Chief Eunuch". The military is in Rimmer's blood.

The Barcelo hotel is the closest, literally (ok, you might need a staff sling) a stone's throw from the Wolvercote Village Hall. There seem to be rooms left, but it ain't particularly cheap, 100 pounds per night for a double room. On the other hand, nothing in Oxford is much cheaper.
The Peartree Roundabout Travel Lodge is pretty close, and a quite a bit cheaper. Looks like about 145 for two nights.

Runners and riders will be published when all lists are received and checked by Tom Elsworth. We are still waiting on a number of lists.
Whilst I know all the players name I do not know in every case whether they are for or against the Pope.
So get the lists in and we will have runners and riders.

Re: Oxford FOG R Competition - 22nd and 23rd September 2012.
Just got home from the 1st Oxford FOG R TYW Pairs competition. I will post a fully report tomorrow with all the results but the initial information is that Burton 2 won the wooden dice as they need to roll better with a total of 48 points.
The winners were Farnborough with 152 points, 2nd Central London with 126 points, third were Oxford with 108 points closely followed by Hell Fire with 104 points. If I had agreed to give 25 points to a pair for a bye then Hell Fire would have come third. Hell Fire had beaten Oxford in the third round with Ben losing his game.
Well done Lance and Richard.
I would like to thank everyone were attended and for the great way all games were played.
We are already started discussion on the theme for next year - ECW, Franco-Italian Wars.

Re: Oxford FOG R Competition - 22nd and 23rd September 2012.
As promised here are the full results of the competition: -
Team Number Team Score for each round Total Opponent for each round
3 Farnborough 38 47 36 31 152 4 6 9 7 1
9 Central London 44 29 9 44 126 8 1 3 2 2
1 Oxford 42 21 14 31 108 2 9 7 6 3
7 Hell Fire 20 37 36 14 107 bye 5 1 3 4
4 Burton 1 12 10 20 43 85 3 2 bye 9 5
6 Team Lurkio 32 3 30 19 84 5 3 2 1 6
5 Forlorn Hope 18 13 28 20 79 6 7 8 bye 7
2 Down and Out in Stockholm and Madrid 8 40 20 6 74 1 4 6 9 8
8 Burton 2 6 20 17 7 50 9 bye 5 4 9
I had to correct a mistake were Ben Jones had left off the 3 points I scored against Lance Flint. Lucky it did not make a different to the final score just that Oxford only came 3rd by 1 point and not 4 as originally thought.
I have also calculated the individual scores for each player. Again Lance and Richard were the winners but the position of other players were surprisingly different :-
Position Catholic Player Points Scored Protestant Player Points Scored
1 Richard Jeffery-Cook 64 Lance Flint 88
2 Dave Parish 61 Ben Jones 79
3 Tim Porter 52 Geoff Punshon 74
4 Bob Medcraft 51 Andy Kitcher 56
5 Dene Green 38 Jon Akers 53
6 Lynnette Maxim 34 Pete Gregory 51
7 Simon Clarke 33 Steve Holt 47
8 Tom Elsworth 29 Peter Card 18
9 Martyn Brawn 21 Wayne Charlton 16

Geoff and I are listed the wrong way round - I was using Catholics and scored 52, Geoff used Protestants and racked up the 74
