Heres why Im upset

Post by Infidel »

The last few years in game development have been $hitty...examples...Making history II...Homefront...Victoria...I & II...no updates for ANY of the close combat rebuilds...especially Last Stand Arnhem...

The industry should BAN premature hype and advertising....how can we trust these developers in improving a game when they arent even aware of its thrice advertised release dates...April..June ..and now September...we are building the ultimate game but sorry we didnt see the release date on our own website?....WTF ?

I'm not aiming my comments personally toward you...just another example of "unrealistic" expectations...like a company actually releasing an advertised product on time...I'm not losing sleep or (money) over this but they are !

Imagine an architect showing models of a building hes been constructing for years...still not built...still behind schedule...with no date of completion after promising it for years...imagine that architect trying to convince clients to buy space in that "non-existent" building....those of you that accept this shoddy trend in game development are as responsible as the developers..its time for me to close my wallet on this "project" Ive had it open for years waiting to purchase a "concept"! I presently own over one hundred titles...this wont be one of them !
Hi Infidel,

I respect your opinion. While not everything in life is perfect and most likely never will be, I choose to believe that Team Assault will be finished and may actually be the game I have been waiting for.

Why, as I indicated earlier I am a big fan of the style and scale of squad leader type games, owning a few but not all of the Squad Leader broad games. I have waited many years for the computer industry to produce games that come close to the feeling of playing a game that draws the player into the game. Yes, maybe I am dreaming and as you say have 'unrealistic expectations" but hey it is my choice. Life is to small short to be stressing about deadlines and release dates. I play games for fun :D and if the game is finished great :D but if it is not, I have not lost anything personally. I chose to believe that my glass is half full not half empty, a old saying but it is how I look at life. Have a great day :!:

Thanks, VonRyan, to put the things in the right perspective.
Well, IMO, at least.

Nicely said VonRyan, thank you. I do assure you though that we'll be stressing about deadlines and release dates to get this game out as soon as possible for you, and at the same time being a really good game ;)

I would like to a address this. We spent 3 and a half year of our time to develop Team assault out of our love for bringing a new era to the turnbased tactics. We did not get payed a single dime to develop the game we spent 10-12 hours a day working on the title building our own engine. We could have released Team Assault and said well it done now. But we did not. We said we want to add more value. We will probably never even get close to 2$ an hour per employe. We would probably had made more mony just releasing it as it was. We keep developing the game cause of our love for game development and total dedication to releasing a good product. Zeal has other big project that we are being payed to do but we keep putting down our free time to make sure the game is release as good as we can make it. Please respect the development team and there effort to dedicate there spare time and so many year to try to bring you a product of this quality. You have the right to be upset that we did not change the release date. You do not have the right to say things like "No excuses...your getting paid...do the job!". We are not getting payed before the game is released. If you don't want to buy the game that is up to you. Disrespecting hardworking people for there efforts and hard work is wrong. Please be more considerate.

Very well said Robin.

Take another 3 and a half years if need be. I and many others want the awesome game that you are making – we do not want a push it out before it is time so we can deal with bugs and gaps in the system.

Take all the time you need to get it right!
