@ Lordzimoa

First i didnt asked for First day Release on Steam ;)
Just asked if there will be an Steam release ;)

As for your fears i can perfectly understand them.
How about you try a steam release with some Older Titles of yours

Would be a perfect testing ground to see if its worth it ;)

@DSWargamer

All i read was MIMIMI you dont know my Fav Strategie Company so you must suck.
Gz
I bet i can name some Strategie Games /Companies you never heard of and i could also flame you for not knowing the Genre
(Fairly easy for me cause i live in Germany and many Complex Games in the early Years of gaming where never released in the US because they where to Complex for the US Market ^^)
But thats kinda childish. (Like the "i hate Steam" Poster @ the beginning).

@iainmcneil
Dont know if your PR is working just heard it from a Friend and God knows where he heard it :P

And i trust you that your game is good. Looks lot like Panzer General 3d and i loved that Game ;)
But that wont change my Mind :(. I have my Policies of 1 Distribution Platform (explained why earlier)

P.S. Didnt want to hurt your feelings by saying you are a small Company/Indie
Really just never heard of you and your Games and trust me i am not the only one ;)

I dont think i understand you, you took the time to make an account here so you could post some questions, but now that you have an account you wont buy a game because its more than one distributor? If you save your download/burn a backup to disk, how can you forget you own it? (especially if its a game you enjoy playing) :wink:

Maybe he can only really enjoy a game when he buys it from Steam.
To each its own, I say.

Fair enough , maybe what you should do is make a spreadsheet saved to your desktiop with all your games etc
I do for all my forum logins / passwords, as well as serial codes/ purchase orders etc. Nice to have everything in one safe place. cheers!

If you like the game maybe you should just buy it instead of worrying that you will forget who distributed it 2 years from now. Surely playing a well made game that you enjoy is worth more than that.
You should consider supporting Slitherine and Matrix. By only going through steam you deny yourself the chance to play many of the good titles they release. Its your own loss.
I know I'll be enjoying Panzer Korps when it's out and would even go through steam to get it (but only if i had to ).

@ThegrayMouser

Just a friendly addwise. Dont ever save Passwords and sensetive Information in an unprotected File like Excel (even with Password a Excel file is not secure)
You can still save your Games and Serials there but Passwords should go into an Password Vault ;) (enogugh Programs out there)

@soldier
See its my decision where, how and what i buy. Thats the right of the Customer ;)
I dont let a publisher force me to do as he wants. (You can also see it that way ;) )
So i just expressesd my needs here.
If the publisher doesnt care about it he is denying a sell to himself ^^

Also want to add something to all who Posted Slitherine shop is older than Steam
Who cares which shop is older.
Does anyone care that there where already many MP3 Players on the Market before the IPod ?
Does anyone care that there where already many Smartphones before the IPhone ?

You are 100% correct. Its your right as a consumer to buy (or not buy) what you want, and from whom you purchase it from. These are important things to consider when spending your money. It was just a suggestion

One thing to bear in mind is that you don't need an acount

There is nothing to forget or reason to come back if you dont want to. You buy the game and you own it, you do not need permission from us to install it on a new PC. There is no DRM so you dont need to worry about your acount. All you need is the serial number which is on the disk if you buy a boxed version. So no need to remember passwords or worry about authenticating new PC's etc.

I think this discussion is getting long in the tooth.
If you like the game you will buy it .... where ever it is available. Simple enough

How old are you" seriously, how old are you? Not chronologically I mean emotionally. The above comment was not something an adult would normally utter. Certainly isn't indicative of most 50 year olds (I would know, I am one).

Has to be from all from one spot so you can remember you own it? That's, well it's totally irrational.

I hope you buy all your clothes from one store lest you forget you own them :)

Maybe if you made use of a small trick, such as placing all your game's installed desktop icons in a single folder you wouldn't forget they were there.

Is that really the reason you insist all of your games be from Steam, or is it the real reason just makes even less sense?
Or is it that you simply refuse to burn data to disk, and require the Steam service provide access to all of your games?

My one question to you would be this. What is your plan, if at some future date, you find yourself in a situation where you simply can't get internet service (for any of numerous variable reasons). That means you now no longer need to worry about forgetting your games, as you can just plain forget ALL of them (if you are ever in need of ever re installing them).

As for PR, frankly Ian is Slitherine's single best asset. In a world where you CAN download (illegally) every last game under the sun if your values permit it, Ian has proven to be too good a friend for that to ever be an option in my world at least. A company is only as good as the respect it has earned.

Come on guys, keep it polite. I'm closing this thread, it's no longer being constructive at all.
