Yeah, that's a far cry from the actual rules the game observes. For example:

http://www.hexwar.com/field-of-glory/he ... -move.aspx
-no information on when facing changes can or cannot be made
-no information on why it is sometimes impossible to close with the enemy

The hyper-link to it claims it is "Movement Rules", but in fact, it's simply "How To Move In The Game". I want to know exactly when I'm allowed to move what and how, not just "click on your guy, look at the white field of options, and click on a hex in the white field".

If I can't move somewhere for some reason, I'd like to know *why* so I can plan better in the future. Is my problem that I'm turning in the wrong direction too often? Is my problem that I'm using a troop type that is not allowed to close in on another troop type? Is my problem that the terrain is preventing me from turning or closing?
Actually , almost all the rules are there about those items you are highlighting: use the index and you will find a host of things related to movement charging, when you are allowed to charge and when yu cant and why....
Not saying the manual is perfect but MOST of the info is there... What it lacks is info on some of the newer features (and a couple of items that are no longer valid)

Maybe it had 90% of the info after RoR...now much less. Slitherine's refusal to produce a manual or to adequately update the help file are not acceptable to me, I'm not buying any more modules until they do so.

The fact that they are probably incentivized to not create a manual so that people might buy more TT manuals just adds insult to injury, as does the fact that they have not enabled searching of the forum.

There are lots of games (er, actually, all of them that I've bought recently other than FoG) that do provide adequate manuals, that's just something I expect.
I really doudt 76mm, that the state of the manual is to get players to buy more TT rules. The no search function in the forums has been brought up before, its due to security issues with hackers/spammers, not to keep players in the dark about the game .
Not saying they shouldnt spend an hour or two to make an adendum to highlight all the additional content that has been added (and find obsolete info to remove)

You can search the forums using the search box. It has indeed been disabled at times, but it's fully functioning now.

Hope that helps

I wonder if the best solution here would be an official Wiki that the experienced players, or moderators and Slitherine could update. Obviously, Slitherine could moderate or vet any entries, but I suspect it would be quicker than waiting for something official because the focus is going to be army packs because these generate the revenue that Slitherine needs.

Any thoughts?

I noticed that doing Google searches specifying the site to search no longer seem to work for the forums so I assume these two events are related.

An official or unofficial wiki might be the best solution. Maybe it should start out as a FAQ and could then expand from there.

I'm bumping this.

Lets do the wiki:

1) Most importantly, it would be fun to generate! General tips, cool tactics illustrated with screenshots, how to play each specific army......
2) A wiki would be more use than a pdf manual. One of the reason the current help is less useful is because Slitherine are adding new features all the time, and I hope continue to do so, since this is one advantage of a PC game over tabletop! (And I personally would rather they worked on this than a manual that we can do just as well.....)
3) Great collaborative project that would take little extra work from any one of us. We already post and AARs to this forum - a wiki is a better way to organise this work

From the previous posts, I have noted the following have mentioned they would be interested in contributing:
batesmotel
petergarnett
TheGraymouser
morbio
Old_Warrior

Can I suggest we create a separate forum and start?
