Last time I ran my Indians, had three stright "1's" and picked up 3 groups :(

Haven't had them on the table since

Aren't 1's great?

I had a game against a mate a little while back where he was forced to test with his unit of disrupted knights to not charge my offensive spearmen. He didn't want to charge my offensive spearmen because it would trigger a flanking charge on the knights from another unit of offensive spear.

Well, the poor bugger rolls two 1's. Quickly snatches them up and says 'thank God they are superior'. He rolled them again as I said "Quality dice rolls don't count here Paul" but he rolled another pair of 1's anyway :).

Game over.

Thanks Daisho for the response.

I am developing a more and more keen understanding. I have now completed the rules about a dozen times now in the past three weeks. I really like all the subtle implications and the rock paper scissors approach to a lot of the units.

Looking forward to first game tomorrow... :)

Reminds me of Graham Briggs shooting at my H Arm Billmen and rolling 4 6s .... only for me to say "er didn't you say those javelinmen were poor!!"

re-rolls are such fun :)

Yes, which proves my theory that '5' is the magic number.

If you roll nothing but 5's I can guarantee you win... unless your opponent also rolls nothing but 5's... then it will be a draw.

I like elephants, so much so that I have to buy another 6 to add to my Indian army which only has 10 at present (2 more to fight with and 4 for commanders).
Lucky for some - you have the advantage of being privvy to the Asian army lists unlike the rest of us mere mortal elephant users. How about publishing your oh so unofficial elephant army list please so some of us might get a feel for what may be allowed in the mega Empire of the Dragon tome?

I've resurrected my Classic Indians (I've had them for 32 years) and found they work better than I expected in FOG. I alternate the elephants with the bowmen (unprotected, Bow, Swordsmen) and they stand up pretty well. I haven't lost any BG to mounted yet, have beaten Arm aux and average armoured leginaries and frankish warbands. I have lost some of the archer BG to the legions but the elephants survived and fought on. The -1 for losing to the elephants often makes the difference to the enemy cohesion tests.
My entire army is undrilled and at 800 pts is exactly 2.4 m wide, and we play on a 2.4 m wide table. So I have a line right across the table and just roll forwards, then try to wheel where the enemy is weak. Exactly how I imagine the army fought historically, no fancy manouvers here.
The heavy chariots are fun too.
It may all come unstuck next week against Macedonian pikes, but it will be fun.
