GDod Selecuid defeats frederic Pyrrhic 61/42

An even match with very similar list selections until the end.
The Pyrrhic forward momentum twas thwarted by a stubborn resistance in and around the wooded area on their left while the Selecuid pike hurriedly formed squares on the Pyrrhic right after all the Selecuid cavalry fled the field. A refreshing pike based classical game. Cheers frederic, always a pleasure.

Aetius (Romans) defeated lydianed (Persians) 60-39


It was a rough battle as the Persians had a lot of cavalry and nasty little horse lancers. The Romans managed to halt/break a charge on their left, and then pushed up, losing a lot of casualties but eventually isolating/breaking enough of the Persians. GG!

Division A

Stones1985 (Order of St John) beat Hari72 (Polish/German) by a score of 63 to 40.

A game where both sides attacked on their right and tried unsuccessfully to defend their left. At one time I thought my opponents victorious flank would get round faster than mine and win the day. It got round but the Oder of St John Knights were resolute and held him off long enough for my lighter troops and Turcopoles to win the day.

A close game: the Sicilian center was on the verge of collapse when its success on the flanks broke the German army, largely due to the exploits of some very fierce (that is to say, very lucky) light cavalry.

Aetius (Egyptians) defeats ianiow (Mycenaeans) 54-19


The combination of arrows, light chariots, and a few quality infantry of the Egyptians managed to break the infantry and hold off the fearsome heavy chariots of the Mycenaeans before they could do any real damage. GG!

The English knights found themselves mowed down by arrows and boulders as they attempted to assault the rough hills and forests protecting the entrenched Mongol position.

Carthaginian mediums managed to overcome their foes in the hills, while staying away from the Assyrian chariots on the plains.

alexhstandish (Skythian and Thracian) drew with IMC (Spartan and Roman) 27: 45

The Spartan army was like a horde of ants, near all Thereophoroi and Pikes in vast numbers. The Skythians shot many to pieces but eventually they ran out of arrows and were not able to hurt the pikes at all.
Meanwhile the foot plodders managed to corner some Skythian cavalry and kill them.

alexhstandish (German) defeates Rockmanbob123 (German) 43 ; 60

This civil war was fought in a congested battlefield with a steep and difficult hill in the centre and a lot of woods. The later Germans brought more lancers and the earlier Germans some Magyar horse archers and a lot of light bow. The battle was however, as to be expected, a proper dark ages slog between superior and average spear grinding each other down.
Battle could have gone either way.
