My Ghaznavids defeated Christwonsends Egyptians 57% vs 63%

Very close and could have gone either way at the end, the Nellies manageing to stick around much longer than normal, made the difference!

Division B

Chris Townsend's Fatamid Egyptians 1074 w/ Crusader allies defeat IMC's English 1272 with Welsh allies 62 to 43.

The dry terrain with enclosures indicated that another army from the British Isles came to Egypt for a holiday. The Fatamid's prepared to provide a warm welcome by deploying a smallish Abid-al-shira/archer force in a central enclosure, backed by one Pavisier and a trebuchet, with a left flank protected by light and medium archers on a small difficult hill. That left resources for a decent mixed cavalry force led by knightly orders on the right, and a reserve of mixed Muslim horse behind the centre. The English choose to heavily rely on their Welsh ally's spears and longbows, with knights leading their defensive force on their open left flank, and English spear in their right flank. The Welsh spear successfully cleared the enclosures, with the help of the longbows, but the English right flank made no progress against the difficult hill, and were decimated by the timely deployment of the Egyptian's cavalry reserve. The battle on the open flank was essentially a draw, although the surprise rout of one of the English knights pushed the English rout points over the limit.

Another cavalry archer showdown with the Mongols advancing carefully across the stream and rough terrain with foot archer and spear to gain better control over the battlefield.

Div A:

Nijis (Sicilians) defeats Triarii (Germans) 46-20.

The disciplined German infantry routed the Sicilian center in a battle that raged over rolling hills, but on the left flank the ardent southern knights swept away their opposition. A valiant stand in rocky terrain by javelin-throwers took one company of German knights out of the fight for virtually the entire battle. Meanwhile, on the Sicilian right, Lombard crossbowmen aided by Muslim light horse overwhelmed a group of German light troops and wheeled around to complete the victory.

(Neither of us were quite sure how the Sicilians won this one, but that was my best reconstruction.)

The Bohemians fielded mass knights on one side and mass spear and crossbow on the other. The Rus managed to shoot up the knights and avoid their charges before turning on the Bohemian infantry.

The battle focused on a ridge that ran between the two armies. The Sicilians' Lombard crossbowmen and Arab foot boldly stormed the heights, whose rocky terrain reminded them of their shared homeland.

defeats

Early success for the mounted element of the Knights of St John on their open left against lighter Polish allies routing and chasing off the Poles and their limited support. Meanwhile the big dismounted German Knights supported by Xb and some luck eventually ground down and broke all of the Orders smaller dismounted knight units and their supports posted on a low hill. The dispersed mounted Order knights not quite able to get back in time. A very close game decided by length of pursuits.

Fortuitous German deployment allowed a large hill to be taken and an abject performance by welsh bowmen condemned the English to attacking uphill.

The long string of Mongol cavalry maneuvered left to shift the Crusader defense of their city before reversing course and galloping all the way to engage the right flank.
